Rules:
Lead Rein Competition – must be on the leading rein. For ages 11 and under, leaders must be over 18. Leaders are there to assist the competitor and should not help to make them go faster. Riders are expected to do as much as possible and attempt the games themselves. Assistance can be given with mounting and dismounting but please respect the spirit of the competition. All riders will be going home with a rosette and some sweets.

Assisted Competition – this is a chance for those who are just coming off the lead rein to have a go on their own but with the reassurance of somebody being on hand if needs be. We appreciate that not all pony clubs will have a team that fits this category so we ask that at least 2 riders in each team in this section fall into the ‘assisted’ category and will not be led. If you have a few riders who are assisted but have no team for them then we will do our best to match children together so that everybody gets a chance.

Line Stewards

In fairness to members who have been practising hard, it is very important that Line Stewards nominated by Branches understand the rules and have had the opportunity to line steward at practices or friendly competitions prior to Area Competitions. It would be also be helpful for all Line Stewards to bring a copy of the race rules on the day if they are inexperienced.

Health and Safety: The organisers if this event has taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers, all officials and stewards. The owners of the land, the organising committee and its officials will not be responsible for any accidents or damage to persons or property arising from any cause whatsoever connected to this competition. Persons attending do so at their own risk.
