Required Checks and Training

WHAT REQUIREMENTS AND CHECKS DO I NEED?

Activity which involves teaching, training or instructing children AND
Happens frequently (once a week or more) OR Intensively (4 or more in 30 day period or overnight)
AND Is carried out unsupervised

Additionally: All overnight supervision must be checked

  • District Commissioner
  • Child Protection Officer
  • First Aid Officer
  • Head Trainer
  • Team Trainer
  • Camp/Team Supervisor

Pony Club requires a current DBS (CRB) to be on file with the Pony Club in addition to any additional training required for your position, such as first aid.  To file a DBS (CRB) with pony club, click here.


  • Pony Club Instructors and Coaches

Pony Club Instructors and coaches will be split into four categories according to their use and role within The Pony Club.  Each category will have specific requirements as laid out below:

Fully Accredited: Equestrian Coaches / Instructors – click here

- take sole charge of the groups they coach.

Supervised: Coaches / Instructors – click here

-       Must not earn their main income from coaching riding.
–       They may be paid to coach for The Pony Club.
–       They must be supervised by a Fully Accredited Coach (category 1), the DC, or any other official who fulfills the requirements for category 1.

Volunteer: Coaches / Instructors – click here

-       must be unpaid and

-       supervised by a Fully Accredited Coach (category 1), the DC, or any other official who fulfills the requirements for category 1

Non-Riding: Coaches / Instructors for non-riding activities such as shooting, swimming etc – click here

-       used for coaching sports / disciplines other than riding for Pony Club activities e.g. Swimming, Shooting, Running.
