Barbury – 6/7/14

Barbury International Novice Team Show Jumping

Sunday 6th July 2014

Jack Beattie on Miracos Thunderstorm, Amy Peevers on Windsor, Emma Hatherell on Calypso and Amelia James on Hayestown Donny

The Beaufort entered two teams this year in the novice section. We jumped in the TH White arena which was in the heart of the trade stands and hospitality tents providing a great atmosphere. The course was beautifully built and dressed and there were 18 teams of four riders. The Beaufort Blue team were second to go and all four members jumped clear in quick times and produced what proved to be an unassailable lead to win the team event. Three of the team qualified in the top 10 to jump for individual places, with the fourth member, Amy Peevers on Windsor, finishing in 11th place and only just missing out. In the top 10 jump off Jack Beattie on Mico produced a fast clear with some tight turns to win the class and Emma Hatherell on Calypso went fast and clear too to finish 5th. Amelia James and Donny went for a win but took a pole to finish just out of the placings as the fastest with four faults.

The Beaufort Buff team were unplaced despite some good jumping however, it really wasn’t their day. Tash Bailey jumped a beautiful round but had one down after a tight turn to the double and Charlotte Bailey also finished on four faults with one stop at the tricky third fence. Maddy Adamson was jumping a lovely round until not quite making a tight line to the seventh and Georgia Glass’s Buster had an off day and was sadly eliminated.

All of us really enjoyed the day at Barbury with time to watch some of the top riders going cross country. Thanks to Kate Adamson for organising everything and to Helen James and Vic Bailey for helping with course walks and warm up.
