        The  Eventing Season has started rather slowly with so many cancellations but hopefully the weather will start to improve this week !

CROSS COUNTRY- in spite of the weather  we have managed to have two C/C training sessions at  Wickstead and Leyland court and go to Wayfarer (near Cirencester) on march 24th and AREA 9 C/C TRAINING  Lyneham on April 9th.

Leyland Court informed me yesterday that they have decided to leave their C/C portables and a set of showjumps on the large jumping Arena FOR AN EXTRA WEEK  until April 1st – see their website, it is very easy to book in-fences 70cm-1.0m.
SHOW JUMPING  training at RECTORY FARM   on April 1st  spaces in 70cm and 90cm-1.00m groups

MOUNTED GAMES – Senior Team training every Saturday  – contacttammy.bradbury@googlemail.com  .  Junior training and lead rein training will start after the Easter holidays- on grass as soon as it is dry enough !

DRESSAGE Training  –  we plan to have regular training from April  – details to follow as soon as the dates have been confirmed.
TETRATHLON/TRIATHLON  – shooting practice (8yrs and over) takes place every Friday   and Bean bag practice for 5-7yrs old.

    Many of you have new horses/ ponies so I look forward to meeting them !   Unfortunately we only have one week when all the schools are on holiday  at Easter .  Glos. South break up the week before Easter and Glos. break up at Easter for two weeks – this explains why the weekday programme is crammed into one week after Easter !
    The new Programme from APRIL  will include regular Working rallies in addition to specific Team Training- everyone is welcome to attend Team training even if they are not quite up to the standard for an Area team this year . In order to be eligible for an Area Team you need to attend  appropriate  rallies and  Team Training on a regular basis  ( on at least three occasions to meet eligibility rules for 2018.) You also  need to have competed in at least two competitions with satisfactory results at the Team level that you hope to be considered for.  Please will any new combinations let me know if they would like to be considered for Area teams this year.  The categories for Area Teams are as follows :
Open  Eventing and  showjumping 1.10m
Intermediate  Eventing and showjumping  1.00m
Novice eventing and showjumping  90cm
Grassroots Eventing and showjumping  80cm
Junior Eventing and showjumping  70cm  Riders 12yrs and under on Jan 1st 2018
Dressage teams  – Open /Intermediate /Novice and Grassroots
    Our next SOCIAL occasion is the Easter egg ride  on Good Friday through Westridge woods to Nibley monument- specific details of parking/ meeting places are on the BOOKING page . All our members and their parents( walking or riding ) are invited to attend  –  from lead reins to our oldest members who will be helping look after the younger riders . YELA members  who would like to help, please let me know and wear your YELA shirts  so that you can easily be identified as helpers also please bring a lead rope  . We will aim to get to the monument about 11.15-11.30am  – for coffee and cake and Easter eggs  ( please bring your own flasks as I  cannot carry them all ) Parents  will be asked to hold the ponies while the children run up to the top of the monument to admire the view !
