Dressage, also known as ‘dancing horses’ to some, has become more popular since the 2012 Olympics, thanks to Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro in particular. Our pony club isn’t quite up to Olympic standard just yet, but we certainly have fun trying!

The word ‘dressage’ comes from the French word ‘training’, and that’s exactly what we are aiming for at the rallies – not to teach you how to do piaffe or passage, but to understand your horse’s or pony’s way of moving. We all know that to be able to do jumping, you’ve got to have some established flatwork!

Tracy Hayling writes: My role as team manger is to organise the rallies and dates with Cammy Furno, who is our team trainer. Most of the rallies are held at Cammy’s yard in her outdoor arena (off Birdlip Hill, near Winchcombe).  Sometimes, there will be some rallies where we have to go indoors to escape the weather!

Keep an eye on the newsletter that is emailed out to members regularly. You can either book a space for a rally by phoning or texting my mobile (I don’t do Facebook). Everyone is welcome, the more the merrier!

All standards are catered for, so why not give it a try? You may be surprised and find you actually like dressage and flatwork!!
