Our main competition focus is on dressage, showjumping, eventing and tri- and tetrathlon, for which we run regular training, but members have the chance to try other disciplines and activities at rallies and days organised by other Pony Clubs in the area.
Please have a look around this website to find out more about us. Visit our Contact Us page to get in touch with any questions you may have. We are a fun and friendly branch and look forward to welcoming you.
The Pony Club is a unique youth equestrian organisation, providing the opportunity to participate in nine different sports.
The Pony Club has been the starting point for a large majority of equestrian team members, equine professionals, and medal winners. Training is at the heart of The Pony Club, providing opportunities to build knowledge on improving equine welfare, rider safety and enabling members to develop lifelong skills, alongside riding, and have fun!
In order for us to organise and run our events we need an army of helpers on the day and sometimes in advance. The events are run as fundraisers to help keep down the cost of training and camps. If you are able to help, or have family and friends who may also be able to lend a hand, please get in touch with Sylvie to let her know which events you can help at and if you have any special skills which may be useful. For Fun, Friendship, Horsemanship and Sport
Four Fitzwilliam members took part in the prestigious LeMieux pony club team jumping at Burghley Horse Trials in September. Twenty-four pony club teams took part, with only 4 teams going into the 2nd round with a zero score, the final two spaces for the 2nd round were taken by the next lowest scoring teams.
We finished on a score of 8 very unlucky faults and only just missed out on jumping the 2nd round, the team did us proud and they came home with 9th place and the 2nd team from Area 6. Congratulations girls you did a fantastic job, proud of you all.
The Pony Club Championships are from 8 to 16 August at Offchurch. Many members compete during the year with the aim to qualify at the Areas for the champs. It is such an honour to be part of a team and represent Area 6 and the Fitzwilliam.
You can qualify to compete in the following disciplines: Tetrathlon, Mounted Games, Polocross, Dressage, Eventing, Show Jumping and Horse and Pony Care.
There is additionally the Regional Championships, date to be confirmed and the Area 6 Mini Championships which is on 28 September 2025.
We run three very popular Summer Camps – fully residential for our Junior and Competition camps while our Mini members (aged 9 and under) are offered the choice of camping for 2 nights or attending daily but at this camp the ponies go home. These all offer a wide range of riding and stable management teaching as well as fun activities.
Area 6 runs a series of leagues sponsored by Cheval Liberte for dressage, triathlon, show jumping and eventing – it is a really good way to motivate children and parents to compete all season with the pony club, after each event you can look up how you are doing as an individual and how the branch is doing overall.
