TETHRATHLON TRAINING DATES

Tetrathlon Policy Letter
Dear Grafton Hunt Pony Club Member
I am delighted to write to you about changes we are making to the Grafton’s Tetrathlon activities. Jackie Steele, after 4 years, has decided to step down as our Tetrathlon Manager. I would very much like to thank her on behalf of the branch for the contribution she has made to this role over the years. Having previously been Tetrathlon Manager myself, I am well aware how much work is involved, and so am hugely grateful for all that she has done.
As a reflection of how much work is involved, I am thrilled to offer a slightly new way and structure for us to handle Tetrathlon activities going forward.
I am enormously grateful to Anne-Marie Taylor who has kindly agreed to take on the role of Tetrathlon Officer for the Branch.
Given the complexity of Tetrathlon nowadays, with the number of age groups, competitions possibly open to us, and the need to arrange training sessions for ages of very different abilities, it would be unfair to ask one person to organize everything. As a result, we have decided to ask different people, under Anne-Marie’s overall supervision, to manage the different age groups:
8-10 year olds: Anne-Marie Taylor (annemarietaylor@clara.co.uk)
10-12 year olds: Jo Linnell (jo.linnell@btinternet.com )
Other age groups: As we receive wider interest in Tetrathlon, we will look to ask willing people to help with these age groups too
The training for the younger children involves coaching across 3 of the 4 disciplines: shooting; running and riding. We are not currently swimming as we assume this will be taught at school or as an extra curricula activity.
For the older age groups we will focus our attention on training for the shooting although we may decide to do some timed running sessions from time to time.
If anyone is interested in taking part in Tetrathlon please will they contact the relevant person listed above.
We are thrilled that so much interest is being shown in Tetrathlon, and that the training days held so far have been so well attended. In this vein, I would like to thank Vicky and George Wilson Fitzgerald who have been so kind in hosting the 8-9 year old training so far at their farm. I know how well these sessions have been attended – and received – and we are all so grateful for their generous support.
In the meantime, can I offer a big thank you to the new management team and wish them and their Tetrathletes a fantastic season in 2012.
Joanna Smyth-Osbourne, District Commissioner, Grafton Hunt Pony Club
