Training

\Holiday Dates soon to follow for D+ – B Test level.  Please keep an eye on this page. 

If you are not sure what tests you should be doing please have a look at the guide  set out below and e-mail with any further questions and I will try to help.  If you are older or more experienced, it is possible to train for C test for example and take D+ as you are training. 

All training courses are subsidised but need a minimum of 4 to run. 

E and D TESTs

These will normally be trained for and taken at camp

D+ TEST

There are several training sessions put on for this on Saturdays and during the holidays. Topics covered are rotated.  There is quite a jump from D test and so training is recommended.

C TEST

These are 2 ways of training for this:

a) Weekly term time training sessions.  There is a new course running from January.  These are held 6.00 – 7.30 on a Wednesday.  In the winter we do theory and in the summer, ride.  There are a few practical sessions in the holidays.

b)Holiday training.  We put on as many sessions as we can in the holidays and it is possible to train in this way.  you will need to co a bit of work at home too.

C+ TEST

As for C teest, these are 2 ways of training for this:

a) Weekly term time training sessions.  There is a new course running from January.  These are held 6.00 – 7.30 on a Monday.  In the winter we do theory and in the summer, ride.  There are a few practical sessions in the holidays.

b) Holiday training.  There are some 2-day training courses offered with training towards the C+ test during some holidays,  subject to numbers.

B TEST

D+ Training

D+ Test Training will run on Saturday afternoons on the following dates:

The sessions will be 2 hours of theory or practical 3-5pm.  There will be the chance to join in the Regal Equestrian Social rides (group lesson) also before the D+ training.  Please ring or e-mail for details

 Tests

 Full details of Tests and syllabi are available on the main PCUK web site.  Below gives you a guide.

Some of you may not be familiar with the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Pony Club awards.  These are designed to provide “Stepping Stones” in a progressive way.  They are NOT compulsory but do allow a child who has for example passed their D Test but is a long way off their D+ to train progressively to the next test and take some “awards” so that they have a sense of achievement on the way.  Each award has 3 “levels” and the children are awarded “stripes” (1, 2 or 3) in the appropriate colour to go on their jumpers.

Tests are a really good way to learn to care for ponies, improve fitness and performance of horses, do your best to keep them healthy and sound!  Pony Club Tests, especially at B test level are recognised around the world and great for helping to get a job, especially during a gap year.
