Pony Club Tetrathlon is a wonderful sport for both boys and girls. Competing as both individuals and team members, in gender and age specific classes. The competitors complete sections in running, riding (both cross-country!), shooting (air pistols) and swimming (for a set amount of time).
Tetrathlon is particularly good for all-round sportsmen, who happen to ride as well!

Chiddingfold Farmers Tetrathlon, October 2011
Great results for the Lord Leconfield Tetrathlon Teams at the Chiddingfold Farmers competition, held over two weekends, the 9th and 16th October, at Heath Farm and at Cranleigh School – both the Mini teams won!
The Mini girls team won, with Abbey Lebus coming first, individually, and also achieving the “best swim”. We welcome both Abbey and her sister, Gemma, as new members of the branch. Isla Martin was third and Araminta Reed was fifth. All four girls, Mischa Penn being the fourth team member, produced fantastic swims, which helped in the final scoring.
The Mini Boys won as well with Rupert Scrase coming second, with the “best run”, Ivan Leggett third, Tobias Mussett fourth, with the “best shoot” of 960 and William Carver was sixth, with an amazing score of 920 for his shoot at this, his first tet!
Angus Mussett was fifth in the Mini Tri and Verity Leggett surpassed herself by coming second in the Biathlon with the “best run”.
Isla Martin, Hugo Martin and Rupert Scrase won the accumulator Grand Prix for Area 13, having been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at competitions throughout the year.
A wonderful effort by all the parents and children alike, who showed fantastic team spirit and created a really great atmosphere through the day!
Lower Peake Tetrathlon, 26th June
The team of mini boys came 5th with Rupert Scrase winning the best shoot. Isla Martin was 7th in the mini girls despite being unwell with a high temp for 3 days before! Hugo Martin won the Juniors’ class with the best swim, shoot and run, a great achievement!
There were a number of members competing at tetrathlon for the first time, they all did remarkably well and will be able to draw on this experience at the next competition.
This is our 3rd time out this year, with approximately 10 children who are all proving to be fantastic tetrathletes. We can always do with more takers though – boys and girls. Our next outing is the Area Tet on the 23rd and 24th July, first timers are very welcome – anyone interested?
Please do call, it is such fun!
Mid-Surrey Tetrathlon Results
Huge congratulations to the children who went to Mid-Surrey Pony Club’s Tetrathlon this weekend and last (9/10th & 16/17th April).
The Mini boys team of Ivan Leggett, Tobias Mussett and Rupert Scrase performed fantastically. Tobias set off on the cross country on Bobby, whom he had never ridden before and completed in triumphant style, managing to stop for the notorious slip rail and get back on again. No mean thing when you’re in full flight!
Rupert achieved his best ever swim and, despite having a sore throat, completed the phases with huge determination.
Ivan also completed and continued round the cross country, despite falling off. He had an excellent run, as well.
Congratulations to Isla Martin who went clear cross country, achieved 900 in her shoot and swam 5 lengths in 2 minutes. She was 8th out of 20, amongst a very strong field.
Hugo Martin was 2nd individually, out of 8 other Junior boys, with the fastest run by 10 seconds!
All in all a lovely two days with great children!
Meriel Martin
