We are cancelling tomorrow’s Club Night due to this morning’s rain and more forecast today and tomorrow, as the ground is still very soft.
“We hope to see everyone at the next Club Night on Tues 29th May, but please keep an eye on the Club Nights website for further updates, thanks”.
Club Nights are a unique opportunity for all our members to come to Bellingdon End Farm for some clear round jumping during the summer months. The evenings are relaxed and informal and are an ideal time for youngsters you to have fun and enjoy meeting up with their friends. The evenings are run by a very small team of committee members that will set out a course of jumps, alter the heights and monitor safety and provide first aid, should it be required. There is no instruction of any kind during the evening.
The evening will start at 5pm and commence with those jumping the smallest heights first. There is a small charge of £1 per round.
The Tuesday Evening Club Night dates for 2012 are as follows:
As with any Pony Club activity, safety is paramount, which therefore requires some rules to be in place. Any member in breach of these rules will be sent home.
Dress Code
‘Home’ riding clothes are allowed. However, long sleeves MUST be worn. As with all Pony Club activities, no ‘hoodies’ or jewellery is allowed. A simple long-sleeved cotton shirt is ideal for not getting too hot on long summer evenings.
Non-Members
This is a ‘Club Night’ for members, friends that are not Pony Club members are not allowed onto the Bellingdon End site, other than on foot. If you have a friend that is thinking about joining our branch, please ask them contact our DC and in certain circumstances they may be allowed to attend at my invitation.
Parental Responsibility and Attendance
This is exactly the same rule as for all other Pony Club activities (except camp) – no member is allowed to attend without a parent or other nominated adult being responsible for them.
Even though this is an informal evening, accidents still happen to both ponies and children. One adult should not be responsible for more than two children. If you are not attending with your child please ask them to report to the arena and tell the committee member on duty which nominated adult is responsible for them.
Travelling to and from Club Nights
Again, this rule applies to all riding activities, not just Club Nights! If you are hacking you must wear some kind of ‘reflective’ clothing, preferably on you and your pony. I know the summer evenings are long, light and hopefully dry, but our wonderful British weather can change in a flash! Plus, it can be very dark by the time you hack home, especially as there are lots of trees overhanging the roads leading to and from Bellingdon End Farm. You will be amazed how many drivers say they can’t see ponies and riders properly if the trees are very dense as they are in summer. Again, safety of the horse and rider is our prime responsibility and therefore if children arrive without wearing at least one reflective item they will be sent home immediately.
We very much welcome help from parents that are watching on these evenings. There are always poles to pick up and jumps to be raised or lowered. Don’t wait to be asked, just join in the fun!
