Area Teams Letter 2012
In 2012 we hope that we shall have members representing OBH North in all disciplines. You will find further details with regard to each discipline on the website under “Teams & Training”, but a brief list is given below.
This year we are expecting our members to attend six working rallies, these are counted from July 2011, and camp counts as one rally. The horse or pony you wish to ride at the Area competitions should attend at least three working rallies from July 2011. Both rider and horse/pony combination must attend at least three of these rallies in 2012. All advertised Autumn/Winter training in all disciplines are now classed as rallies so this set criteria is achievable for all.
We shall also expect prospective team members;
a) to compete at our own Branch held competitions;
b) to compete regularly at events at the appropriate level in the discipline(s) they are interested in, and inform each discipline manager of all their results on the spreadsheet provided.
c) to attend and help and support at as many Branch events as they can what ever the discipline.
This ensures that our Area team candidates for all disciplines in 2012 will be committed OBH(N) Branch members.
Due to the Olympics in 2012 the Area dates will be much earlier and details are:
Area SJ or Dressage will be weekend of 1st July 2012 or 8th July (not decided which weekend will be which discipline yet, but both dates will be used), Eventing will be on 15th July, Tetrathlon probably 21st and 22nd July. Final details will be available soon. Please check the website regularly for more information.
Team selection will be much earlier than usual due to the earlier Area competition dates. We will be expected to enter the number of teams and/or individuals for Show Jumping, Eventing and Dressage by mid-May, at the latest, and we will have to provide the named, selected individuals making up those teams by mid-June at the latest.
Show Jumping, Eventing and Dressage
There are three levels – Novice, Intermediate and Open in each discipline.
Please bear in mind that for the Area Eventing competition the Branch need to supply 4 jump judges on the day of the Area competition, likely to be on 15th July, and our Branch will not be fielding any teams without this criteria filled in advance of the final named team selection in mid-June. It will be the responsibility of the potential team candidates to find these jump judges.
The Novice level teams and individuals in each discipline qualify for their own separate Championships which will be held on 25th and 26th August (Bank Holiday weekend) in Cheshire.
Intermediate and Open levels in each discipline will qualify for the Pony Club Championships which will be held from 16th to 19th August at Cholmondley Castle, Cheshire.
Please note that if you are unavailable for these dates or are not prepared to travel to Cheshire for the Championships should you qualify, then DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME FORWARD FOR THE AREA TEAMS.
Mounted Games
The area competition will be held before the end of May and if your team qualifies for the Zones this should be held towards the end of June/the beginning of July.
Again if you wish to represent OBH North in a team you must be available for the Pony Club Championships.
Area Quiz and Horse and Pony Care Competition
We hope to send teams for both these area competitions and further information will be available soon.
Tetrathlon
The Area competition has teams at all levels from Minis to Open but there is only a Championship for the Intermediate and Open competitors and this is held separately from the other two Pony Club Championships, usually the weekend between them both, possibly 16th – 19th August next year and although it has been at Hartpury the last few years the venue may change.
The Area competition for Tetrathlon, like Eventing, also has a stipulation that at least 2 jump judges should be supplied by each competing Branch on the riding day of the competition and our Branch will not be fielding any teams without this criteria filled in advance of the final named team selection in mid-June. It will be the responsibility of the potential team candidates to find these jump judges.
