Well done to the open eventing team of Nicola Whitmore, Amber Major, Lauren Wilson and Joe Dowse who represented the club at the National pony Club Championships, they all had terrific rides and as a team finished in 5th place a really great result. There were 20 teams from other areas of the uk and all had qualified at area events first, so we are talking the cream of pony club riders, and to finish 5th overall was amazing, so well done to you all. Joe came 5th in his arena and Nicola came 5th in her arena.

Kate Jackson was 2nd in her arena and went through to the ride off and finsihed 9th overall, a great result, Charlotte Sutton finished 7th in her arena. Thank you girls for a great display.

Pony Club awarded grant fund

The Scunthorpe pony club are pleased to announce the  North Lincolnshire Council Community Grant Fund for supporting community groups have awarded the Scunthorpe pony club £15ooo.oo for the community project, a lot of paper work /hard work had to be submitted along with financial details, Ted Dowse did all the ground work for this project and it has paid off handsomely. We are very grateful to Ted for everything he has done for the club.
With money we have purchased 35 Radios of industrial strength, because of the problems we have been having with radios we hired always letting us down, they didn’t work well in the wooded area of Normanby Park, we used the new Radios at the Autumn Hunter Trial on the 1st Sept, and the worked excellent, we have to have radios for contact with jump judges at events, we also bought timing equipment, watches and master clocks.  We purchased some dressage boards and markers, to replace the heavy old wooden ones, which was always a struggle to move them as it is usually the ladies who  set up/take down dressage arenas. Now we are in the process of buying a commentators box which can be rigged up with speakers and timing gear for events, all these things we hire in for events at a hefty cost, so hopefully next year our events  expenditure will be alot less and there will be more profit to put back into the running of the club.
Thank you so much to the North Lincolnshire Council for awarding this money to the club, the members and the club will benefit greatly from the grant. Thank you.

Scunthorpe and District Branch of the pony club

The club was formed in 1968

We hold 3 main events each year, which are held at Normanby Park near Scunthorpe by Kind permission of Sir Reginald Sheffield.  Bart.  Mini camp for under 10s at Alkborough same as last year when 12 members attended.  Camp for the older members, this year at Askham Bryan where 36 members attended.

We hold rallies for Dressage only. Rallies for show jumping, and rallies for cross country on our own course as well as other cross country courses in the area. We hold training rallies for dressage and training rallies for show jumping through out the winter. We have just started Tetrathlon.

All details about these events can be found on this site.

At present the membership for Scunthorpe stands at around 55

The Pony Club is the number one organisation for young people who love ponies and riding. There are more than 43,000 Pony Club Members in Great Britain, belonging to either a Branch or a Centre – there are more than 350 of each of these. Membership of The Pony Club offers fun, friendship, training, events and competitions.

Internationally The Pony Club has a membership of over 110,000 across 18 countries, making it the largest association of riders in the world. Most British equestrian medal winners at The Olympics and World Championships have been Members of The Pony Club.

The Scunthorpe & District Pony Club Committee would like to make it known that the fences in Bagmoor Park belong to the Pony club only and no one else, the club put a lot of work into keeping these fences in good order and we spend a lot of money on them, anyone known to be jumping the fences at any other time than a rally or competition will be taken to task.
