Area Round Up

Seskinore Harriers have been well represented at Area competitions this summer with some fantastic results at all levels. First up was the Area Dressage where we managed to field a novice and an intermediate team. The novice team of Claire Murnaghan, Sophia and Patrick Williams missed out on the rosettes in a strong class but the intermediate team were 5th with Fergal McKinney taking a qualifying place for Championships as 3rd individual.

Hot on the heels of the Dressage was the Area Showjumping with our younger members out in force and a wonderful result in the huge novice competition with the team of Claire Murnaghan, Paris Douglas, Beth and Ellen Thompson taking first place and qualifying for Championships in England. Rory Murnaghan also competed as an individual in the Novice class but an unfortunate pole down knocked him out of the running.

At the Junior level we had a small team of Mary Kate Rice, Amy McLoughlin and Beth Thompson, though the team were not placed Beth Thompson was on a winning streak picking up a 2nd individual place in this competition.

Area Tetrathlon has been a strong competition for Seskinore members in recent years and this year was no different, the junior girls team of Claire Murnaghan, Paris Douglas AmyMcLoughlin and Sophia Williams taking 3rd place. Sophia Williams had a strong run and swim together with a clear XC round left her as first individual in the girls section and is travelling to Tetrathlon championships in England.

With not enough senior boys to form a team in Seskinore Rory Murnaghan joined the Area 17 team helping them to their win in the Challenge competition. At junior boys level we only had 2 competitors Matthew Hempton and Patrick Williams both put in great performances, with Patrick coming out as 1st individual in the Junior boys class.

The newly introduced Beanie level only had one Seskinore representative in Stewart Beattie at his first Area tetrathalon coming home with a 4th place, one to watch for the future!

There were 8 competitors at the Area Eventing with some mixed fortunes the intermediate team of Lindsay and Scott McIvor, Ella Duncan and Fergal McKinney were 5th overall with Scott McIvor taking 4th individual and qualifying for Eventing Championships later this month. Gemma Elkin also took part in the intermediate competition but after a good dressage and clear SJ round unfortunately luck was not with her on the XC.

We had 2 individual entries at novice level of Claire Murnaghan  – 5th individual and Sophia Williams 6th individual. In the regional competition Patrick Williams picked up 5th individual and Amy McLoughlin 9th individual. Great results all round.
