**Please Beware**
It’s that time of year again – there have already been a flurry of cases of Atypical Myopathy in the last few weeks and many people are still unaware of the dangers associated with the ingestion of sycamore seeds. Please check your field boundaries for sycamore trees and fence off any areas where the seeds (’helicopters’) may fall.
The signs of atypical myopathy can include:
- severe stiffness or weakness, sometimes leading to recumbancy
- dark / red or brown coloured urine
- muscle twitching / sweating
- recurrent choke spasms
- other signs of distress
Please contact your vet as a matter of emergency if you see any of these signs and if you know your horse may have consumed sycamore seeds.

If anyone is considering buying an air jacket please contact Caroline Brimblecombe email cbrimblecombe@googlemail.com . If ten or more people club together we can get a substantial discount. Caroline already has a list of a few people who have expressed an interest.

Hats. On another health and safety note, please remember that if you have had a fall and banged your hat, you really need to replace your hat. It is not always possible to visibly see damage to hats, which is why it is recommended that you change your hat after a fall.
