Welcome to the South Dorset Hunt Branch of the Pony Club

Huge congrats to all of our South Dorset members who made the long trek north to Cheshire to take part: Lucy Ferguson, Morgan Wyatt, Emily Gibbons, Fin Wyatt, Millie Rogers, Grace Rowley and Olivia Mallows. There was an amazing atmosphere up there and real team spirit from all who took part.

Our Novice Dressage riders were on first and all rode really well to achieve Team 4th place. Olivia Mallows won individual 3rd and Fin Wyatt and Grace Rowley both claimed individual 4th in their sections too.

In the Eventing, Olivia Mallows did really well in the Novice Competition with an individual 5th place for her and Dez and in the Intermediate, Lucy Ferguson and Eric came 2nd in spite of very deep mud and being the last on the course.

As a Club we like to encourage those that want to be in teams and compete for their Club, but it’s not all about the competitions – many of our members join the Club to enjoy their ponies in a less competitive way and friendships are formed through rallies and camps. Competitive or not, we all love our ponies and meeting and making friends with children with a shared interest.

Our Pony Club was founded in 1931 and still has strong ties with the South Dorset Hunt today. We are a branch with approximately 100 members (at last count) and offer training for all levels from the smallest Mini riders on their first ponies to the most competitive of Senior riders.

The South Dorset is particularly lucky as we have two fabulous Equestrian Centres within our territory: The RAC Saddle Club at Bovington and Moreton Equestrian Centre. Both venues regularly hold competitions and we are fortunate to hold many of our rallies and camps at these centres and enjoy the excellent facilities that they offer.

Do have a read through these pages and find out a bit more about the South Dorset Hunt Pony Club and what we get up to.
