___________________________________________

Rallies are small training sessions that take place throughout the year, often on a weekly basis at the following locations:

  • Moreton EC
  • Bovington RAC Saddle Club
  • Whitcombe Indoor School
  • East Stafford
  • Stour XC

The children are usually divided three groups based on age and ability –

Minis: Up to the age of 9

Juniors: A Mini becomes a Junior on their 9th birthday – they don’t have to wait until the January of the following year

Seniors: A Junior becomes a Senior on their 13th birthday – they don’t have to wait until the January of the following year

In our Pony Club we have tried to maintain some flexibility or fluidity within this structure. Children will not be pushed up a level if they don’t feel quite ready, equally children may from time to time be asked to go into a higher group for a rally in order to accommodate as many children as we can on that day. (It does not make financial sense for us to have one group running at a loss and turn children away from another.) Any movements of this kind are for the day only, and entirely at the discretion of the rally organiser. Any other movements from Minis to Juniors or Juniors to Seniors, ‘early’ ie before their 9th or 13th birthday, can only be approved by the Chief Instructor.

ELIGIBILITY AND RULES

The Pony Club have strict rules and regulations about taking part in teams and eligibility at any level needs to be confirmed: 2021 Pony Club Rules. Each discipline has it’s own rule book which can be found on The Pony Club website

FLU VACCINATION

Check your pony’s passport has the correct historical vaccination record. Since the recent outbreak of Equine Influenza Pony Club are being VERY strict about vaccinations, and at Area Competitions, all competitors will have to have their pony’s passports with them, and if in a qualifying position, these WILL BE checked, and only if 100% compliant will the Individual or Team be able to go forward to the Championships. Please read the attached rules:

Pony Club Vaccination Rules

As many of you will already be aware British Eventing, the Pony Racing Board and many of the local equestrian centres are now requiring that all ponies and horses must be vaccinated against Equine Flue on a SIX MONTH basis rather than annually as previously requested.

PLEASE ENSURE YOUR VACCINATIONS ARE UP TO DATE AND CARRY YOUR PASSPORTS WITH YOU TO ALL RALLIES AND COMPETITIONS – THEY WILL BE REGULARLY INSPECTED.
