All those at Camp have been invited to a BBQ with the Zeland Branch to mark the 85th Anniversary of the Pony Club.
7th August at Stapleton Hall full details are to follow but we could do with a rough ideas for numbers.
This is a great idea and one we should support – also saves the hassle of us doing a celebrationary event!
I am sure it will be a great night (I think parents are invited – if not there is a pub nearby!).
Please let me know asap…

19/6/14 Spurs…. for those of you who want to or do wear spurs please refer to the rules on what you can and can’t wear. You also require signed and dated permission from the DC to wear spurs unless you have your B TEST. Each year a new card is issued for this permission 2013 membership card will not suffice at Area Competitions. I have special spurs cards with the necessary details that allow you to wear spurs at Area – I strongly recommended you contact me to make sure you have correct permission card BEFORE going to an Area competition – they will at best remove them and at worst eliminate you! Please contact me asap to arrange for a signed card and for those of you who I have given a card to already can you contact me to confirm that it is the correct one, this is a task we cannot do at an Area Competition.
Hat Tagging and Approved Hats – a new rule has been issued about Hats you will find this on the Area Team Selection TABS (HT’s) please check yours comply. If you have a new hat make sure it is tagged before AREA again too much hassle on the day! Thank you. Lesley Makin.

11/6/14 Sunday 29th June – Mini One Day Event Rally
by kind permission of Liz and Charlie North at Southmoor Livery.
Although there isn’t a age limit on this rally it is expected that only those younger members and those very new (novice) to cross county will attend.
There are two classes, assisted (means both lead-rein and parent needed to be in the ring or walking beside the pony) and non-assisted (on their own) the cross country which will be a series of show jumps round an edge of a field will be no higher than 45cms, show jumping may be spilt between 45cm and 55cm depending upon requests. Everyone will do the same Level D Dressage Test (click for test).
£8.00 including rosette (1 -6 plus specials to everyone, trophy for the winner of each class). Cheques made payable to SDHPC and sent as usual to Margaret Berry requesting SJ height on the reverse of the cheque. We will post times on the website by the Thursday before the event so there is a fixed closing date of June 22nd
Fantastic results for the South Durham members competing for Northern England at the Junior Regional Tetrathlon Competition at Milton Keynes on 31st/1st June. All had great shoot, run and swim scores with some PBs amongst them. More importantly, all were clear over a very testing XC course that caught many others out. Sadie Abel was placed a very impressive 10th individually and Team 2nd. Lucy Todd team 8th, Will Todd team 8th.
It really was a fantastic, fun weekend ( not to mention the talent show dance ) and all the kids entered into the spirit of tetrathlon making new friends from around the different regions.
7/6/14 Shoot training.
The final shoot training session with Kim prior to Area will be Friday the 20th June 2014. I would encourage all Area team members to attend if possible. Names to Lindie by Monday before.

12/1/14 Musical Ride Team Training – Following the success and enjoyment of the participants last year Friedl is training a team again for the 2014 competition. The competition this year will be held at the PC Championships between 15th – 18th August at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire. First training session this year is Thursday 16th January @ 7pm at Dalton Piercy Indoor School. If you can commit yourself to those dates and would like to give it a go, we would love to see you on 16th January.
7/1/14 Area Competition Dates can be found here [note date changes since first posting (Quiz 16th February, 20th July now just Open to Novice, Area Dressage 27th July Houghall Colllege Durham hosted by Newcastle & North Durham, Area Show Jumping 2nd August.].
These changes have been created because we are still receiving too many later comers wanting to join a rally. The committee absolutely believe that where possible any member wishing to come to a rally must be given the opportunity, despite their parents somewhat lax administration skills! However, we also need the time to ensure that rides are grouped into similar ability etc which in itself is complicated to then add someone else can tip the balance unless there is a clear gap and or a suitable ride. Putting a child in the wrong ride isn’t any good for the other members or the child and if I recall parents are the first to complain about this – so please don’t create any more work for Margaret or complaints for me to address by getting the in booking late.
Thank you. Lesley Makin (DC).
