AREA EVENTING 2018  IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PC110, PC100 AND PC90 LEVELS

TEAM TRAINING THURSDAY 28TH JUNE IS AT PARK END – NOT LITTLE WHITTINGTON

There will be an opportunity to run through your dressage test on grass and also have a final show jump on grass too.  The ground for show jumping is not too hard, the take off and landing areas are good.  We would like to see as many of you as possible.  Times will be allocated for dressage riding and you will jump afterwards.  There will be time to change tack if you need to.  Studs should be worn for both sessions.  Your entry fee will be collected and the charge for training will be £25.

Dressage Tests – PC110 Eventing Test 2010

PC100 Eventing Test 2015

PC90   Eventing Test 2013

SATURDAY 30TH JUNE COURSE WALKS AT WARWICK HALL

Barbie will be at Warwick Hall at 6.30pm on Saturday to course walk with all our PC90 riders.  Please be at Warwick Hall at the Cross Country Start Box ready to walk.  Please wear footwear which will allow you to walk through the water.  Parents will not be accompanying riders on the formal course walk.  Any parents who wish to walk the course with their child/children is free to do so after we have walked as a team.  The course walk will take around 45 mins – 1 hour.

All 90 level riders must do this course walk.

100 Riders – you may do your own course walk if you wish – please tell Barbie if you are walking on your own.

110 Riders – you may do your own course walk.

SUNDAY 1ST JULY – AREA EVENTING AT WARWICK HALL

Please collect your numbers from Barbie

Ashley and Barbie will both be on site.  They are both very happy to give assistance, answer questions and give guidance in the warm up areas and help to direct you to your dressage, show jumping and cross country rounds.  Once times are available we will make sure everyone is given theirs.  Heather McDonald will also be there.

It’ll not be possible for everyone to be given personal attention for their warm up as it is likely that sections will clash and our trainers cannot be everywhere at once.  They will do their utmost to help as many of you as possible.  Those of you who are experienced eventers are free to use your own trainers or parents to help you and get on with your riding just as you would at any other event.  It is usual for teams to be in the warm up all at once which makes it easier.

Dressage warm up – be there at least 30 mins before your test time

Show Jumping warm up – be there 15 minutes before your time.

XC warm up – 10-15 mins is usually long enough to warm up.

NOTE – IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES REGARDING SCORES OR PROBLEMS RELATING TO THE COMPETITION AT ALL, PLEASE REFER THESE TO ASHLEY, BARBIE OR HEATHER.  PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PROBLEMS DIRECT TO ANY STEWARD OR OFFICIAL.  THE CORRECT PROCEDURE IS FOR THE BRANCH TO DEAL WITH IT FOR YOU.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Recently ground conditions have been hard and the weather warm.  Please take plenty of water with you for washing down hot horses.  Take plenty of ice with you in a cool box and use it to make your water cold.  It is also essential for cooling down hot tired legs.  Get them washed down quickly and then walk them round to dry off.

Electrolytes should be given AFTER completing the cross country.  Once given you must ensure your pony has plenty of water to drink.  If your pony has sweated a lot these will restore the levels of essential salts in the body quickly.

Studs – we would advise the use of these.  Small but spiky ones for the current ground conditions.

CORRECT DRESS

Dressage – Jacket (tweed if possible otherwise navy or black)

White Shirt

Pony Club Tie – if you wear a stock it should be a Pony Club One

Gloves (black/brown are fine – do not need to be white!)

Beige Jods

Clean shiny boots (smooth soles are a requirement)

Spurs if you wear them

Girls – hair must be secured at collar level in a hairnet.

Hat – up to standard and with the current turquoise hat tag on

NUMBER BIB

Show Jumping As above

XC Crash hat – tagged

Body protector – up to current standard

MESSAGE FROM TEAM COORDINATOR: BARBIE CLARKSON

Hi All

In light of the problems we have had with wet ground and inclement weather recently, here is plan B. I apologies for not getting this out to you sooner.

This will completely replace the assessments etc that we had previously organised.

We would like to see the following members who I understand are not entered in the Competition Day on 6th May at Little Whittington.

 Katie Fyfe – novice dressage

Charlee Rayson – 90/95 eventing and show jumping

Katie Forster – novice dressage and 90/95 eventing

Katie Cheesman – 90/95 show jumping

Lucy Bailey – 100/105 eventing and show jumping

Abi Courage – 100/105 eventing show jumping and intermediate dressage

Please could each of you confirm that you are available to come to Little Whittington on Tuesday 8th May by return email.  Once you confirm attendance I will provide you with a time.

For those who are entered in the Competition day, or who are actively taking part in current BE eventing,  we will look at your results and the level at which you are competing in lieu of being assessed.

Depending upon your assessment/results you will be invited to come forward to team training on the basis of a long list.  There will be fewer training sessions offered this year with the emphasis placed on “team building” and perfecting horse/pony/rider partnerships rather than building them.  Training will be given more in relation to enabling better competitive riding rather than teaching and improving basics.

Again please be very particular to make sure you are rallied up.  Please also ensure now, that your horses/ponies are up to date with their vaccinations.  This year you cannot compete without a full, up to date vaccination record.

Team Training dates will be as follows:-

14.5, 24.5, 31.5, 12.6, 21.6, 28.6

You won’t be expected to attend all of them although one will be a XC training session to which all prospective 90 level eventers will be expected to come.  The date for this will be 24th May – venue to be confirmed.

Any issues please get in touch elringtonhall@gmail.com or barbaraclarkson@btconnect.com 07875525036 (leave a voicemail if I don’t answer).

Lets hope we can now get everything moving forward and progressing towards a really great Area Competition Season

Many thanks.

BARBIE CLARKSON
