Are there any members interested in getting a team together to represent our Pony Club in Prince Philip Cup mounted games competitions?
Riders need to be 11 years and under on 1st Jan for junior games and 14 years and under on 1st Jan for senior games.
The competitions start around Easter and finish with the Area competition towards the end of May.
I propose to start training on a Monday evening at Brackenhurst College at the end of January, depending on numbers this will cost approx £5.00 per session, per child.
Mounted games are great fun, all you need is a pony 14.2 or under who would not be too bothered by flags, cones etc but with practice most ponies do get used to the equipment so don’t worry too much about this. Being able to vault is also an advantage but this is something that can be worked on and isnt essential. Previous experience is not necessary, as we will be doing lots of training.
We need at least five members for a team and commitment to both training and competitions is essential, although I realise that you may not be able to make training every week and every competition. I would expect there to be about six friendly competitions close enough to attend and dates for these and the area competition will be available early in the new year.
To ensure income for the hire of Brackenhurst it may be necessary to ask parents to pay in advance for the training sessions the same way as we do for rallies.
