Well we’ve had a good start to 2011, and I hope that you are all still sticking to your new year’s resolutions of; eat healthily, exercise more and train harder. I also had another new year’s resolution…to get the junior committee going! We were stumped at the first hurdle last year when the weather cancelled the dog and pony show that we had helped to organise. Hopefully this will be rescheduled soon.
Currently on the committee there is myself (Jess Griffiths), Libbie Norton, Ruth Holroyd, Becca Clark and Lydia Norton. As yet we have not had a meeting, But I intend to hold one in the very near future. As soon as that has taken place we will post the minutes and outcomes on this page. If you have anything that you would like to be discussed or any views or opinions that you would like to voice please do let me know. We will then give Rowley a detailed review for him to discuss with the adult committee. We really would like to see improvements in attendance to camp and pre training rallies, as well as more social events off the horse. Yet these events are put on for the members so it is crucial that they deliver what the members want. This is where we need you!
We have recently organised a team to take part in the pony club area quiz. Three of the four team members were from the committee. We all enjoyed the quiz, and look forward to getting a team (maybe even 2!) together next year. We have spoken about the idea of holding a ‘friendly’ quiz sometime as more of a social, where we can meet up with old/new friends from rival pony clubs. This is also a great way to play a key part in pony club without your horse!
It has also been brought up that there is a lot of talk at the minute about rider fitness. So we are hoping to organise some sessions which will give you some good exercises and ideas about how to stay fit and healthy through the tough competition season.
