Dress code for all rallies
(as per Pony Club Year Book 2012)

When Mounted at Pony Club activities, Members should wear a jacket or Branch sweatshirt/jacket, jodhpurs with leather shoes or jodhpurs boots or breeches and either leather or rubber riding boots, a suitable plain coloured shirt with a collar and The Pony Club tie or stock.

Only standard riding or jodhpur boots with a fairly smooth, thin sole and a well defined square cut heel may be worn. Plain black or brown half chaps may be worn with jodhpur boots of the same colour. Tassels and fringes are not allowed. No other footwear will be allowed. Stirrups should be of the correct size to suit the rider’s boot. They must have 7mm clearance on either side of the boot. New clothing is not expected, but what is worn must be clean, neat and tidy. Jeans should not be worn. Long sleeves should be worn for all jumping activities.

For Mounted Working rallies, tests and test training a jacket with Pony Club badge and appropriate coloured felt and cream jodhpurs should be worn. Branch sweat shirts for any unmounted rallies. (Branch ruling)

Spurs may be worn at Rallies etc by Members who have passed their B Test. Members without their B test must have written permission to wear spurs from their DC, which they should carry with them. Further details available on www.pcuk.org

Jewellery – This rule applies to all Pony Club mounted activities. No jewellery is allowed for safety reasons, other than a wrist watch, wedding ring, a stock pin worn horizontally or a tie clip. It is recommended that stock pins be removed for Cross Country.  Members who are contemplating piercing their ears or any other part of their body should be aware that they will not be allowed to participate in any Pony Club mounted equestrian activity until such time as the ‘sleepers’ can be safely removed.

IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY, LONG HAIR MUST BE SECURED.

Hats are mandatory and must comply with the manufacturers’ minimum standards. It must bear the CE mark and a quality symbol. For more details got to www.pcuk.org. All hats must be checked and have a safety tag applied by your branch ‘Hat Taggers’ – that’s Bethan and Harriet.

Body Protectors. – The Pony Club does not make the use of body protectors compulsory, except for all cross-country riding and Pony Racing whether it be training or competing.

For general use, the responsibility for choosing body protectors and the decision as to their use must be rest with Members and their parents. It is highly recommended that younger and/or more novice riders should wear a body protector. Also please comply if your instructor asks you to put one on.
