CHIEF INSTRUCTOR’S CAMP REPORT 2011
I am extremely pleased with how camp ran this year. We were fortunate to have been offered such a fantastic venue to hold this year’s camp at such short notice. I am confident that all of the children had a wonderful time. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of those involved with camp, especially Georgie and Andrew who kept us well fed and watered throughout the week!!!! I would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Canter for allowing us to use the excellent facilities.
The swimming pool was a favourite with all the children, come rain or shine. All the rides were able to enjoy hacking in the wonderful Hallington valley. Our instructors were very fortunate in being able to borrow horses from Mr and Mrs Canter and ride with the children when they went for a hack or on to the Hallington Top Cross Country Course. Louise Roe was invaluable in accompanying the rides – to make sure nobody got lost.
The children and parents slept in a tent, caravan, lorry and even a horse trailer on the last night. The first part of the week was extremely hot and sun block was needed and plenty of drinks for kids and horses. The heavy rain on Thursday day did not dampen anybody’s spirits – a few air beds got wet but soon dried out on Friday, which was a beautiful day.
We were very privileged this year with a visit from Mrs Christina Thompson, the Area Representative for Area 6. She presented 3 very special awards to great friends of the South Wold Hunt North who have all given so much of their time and efforts to the branch. Rowley and Judy Boulton received their Cubitt Awards for 20 years service to the Pony Club. Our President, Ann Griffiths received her Cubitt Bar for 30 years of continual service. All three have been District Commissioners of the South Wold Hunt North.

On a final note, I’m sure you all agree that Harriet Johnson has done a wonderful job in her role as Chief Instructor.
Harriet joined us at the BBQ on the Wednesday evening and Rowley presented her with some flowers. I know Harriet was disappointed not to be teaching at camp this year and she intends to stay involved with the pony club as much as possible, so I am sure we will be seeing plenty of her! Thank you for all you have done Harriet and good luck in the future!!! Harriet has now officially ‘handed over the reins’ to myself.

CAMP AWARDS
THE KING AND GRIFFITHS YARD CUP was presented to Izzy Needham. Louise Roe was very pleased with how Izzy looked after her pony and by the number of times she was helping out all the others on the 2 yards.
Louise awarded the SENIOR YARD CUP to Nina Moore, who again was extremely helpful on the yard and worked hard to look after her pony.
The Senior Tack and Turn out winner was Rebekah Hampton.
The Junior Tack and Turn out winner Esmee Alex. Both were presented with stock pins.
The yard staff, instructors and catering staff all agreed that Evie Toombes should be presented with the JUNIOR CAMP CUP. This was the first time for Evie at our camp. She was moved around from 1 group to the next but took it all in her stride with a happy smile on her face.
THE SENIOR CAMP CUP was presented to Harriet Dewis-Goodman. Harriet was very quiet and pleasant during the first part of the week, her pony went lame just as she was starting her dressage but she just rode the borrowed pony without making a fuss and did a very nice test. For the second half of the week she helped all day with the lead rein children. Her help was indispensable.
