On the 24th May we’held a working hunter competition at ‘Valleyfield,’ recently and the weather proved to hold out for what was an extremely successful day. A varied course of rustic jumps offered competitors from across the region the opportunity to test the skills of horse and rider during the jumping section whilst the showing section finalised the scores. Bronnen Pears and her new pony ‘Byley Tom Thumb’ won the Mini Championship with reserve Jasmine McCulloch on ‘Mr B Pickle.’ The Beginner Novice Championship was won by Becky Maxwell on the stunning ‘Maesllinch Lilly Langtry’ with Kelly Telfer on Apple deservedly taking reserve. The Open Championship was won by Emily Forsyth on ‘Meikle Jetsetter,’ with a lovely clear round and reserve was Heather Conn on Kim Derby’s ‘Oscars Way.’ Kate  would like to thank the  committee members for all their organisation and Tom & Sarah Clarke for kindly allowing us to use their land.

Anne Jolly of Calgow Equestrian kindly judged the competition and it was a super result for Zoe Burgoyne on Tina winning the junior championship and Tammy Campbell on her lovely pony Foster House Big Swing being placed as reserve champion (picture 3).  In the next class Emily Forsyth on her striking coloured pony Visa Versa jumped a lovely clear to won the Novice championship, closely followed by Alice Dryfe on her lovely big bay horse Luigi (pic 2). The beautifully sunny day culminated in the Open Championship which was derervedly won by Emily Forsyth on Visa Versa, again going clear in her class, and the overall Reserve Champion going to Mollie Miller-Smith with a well jumped round and good show on Donomore Jolly (pic 1). Kate Barrick, District Commissionmer of the Stewartry Pony Club said’ ‘ We were delighted it went so well and hope for a good turnout next year. Nimmo & Kyle

‘A most successful & fun day was had at the Stewartry Pony Club indoor show jumping competition at Barstobrick on the 8th April.  There was a good turnout from locals and other clubs and the competition heated up as the sun came out! Notably Kyle Scott on his wee pony Nimmo were fast against the clock in the lead rein, with dad John running fast! Again Jessica McCulloch & Benny proved an unbeatable pair in the wibbly wobbly and not so wobbly classes coming first in both. Amelia Craig and her new pony Boca are now demonstrating balance and control and were hard to beat against the clock in the expert wobbly class. The Easter bonnet competition at half time was a picture of colour with Tammy Campbell & Jasmine McCulloch in their bright Easter bonnets!

Then it was onto the bigger classes with Iona Dodd and Sunny jumping a beautiful round to win the 65cms & another speedy jump off in the 75cms to see Poppy Drysdale & Midnight Mist win the 75cms by a good few seconds. Millbrook Monte & Phoebe Drysdale jumped a careful  clear 85cms with a few tight turns against the clock to go on and win the class, followed by Katie Walkinshaw on Jack jumping hot on their heels to come in 2nd place. The day came to a close with Jan Jardine on Tango jumping a tidy 95cms and Robert Dodd & his lovely all rounder, Blue coming in 2nd place. Thanks to all who came and supported us.
