This year membership subs are not due until the 1st February 2015.Membership normally falls due on January 1st. However the Pony Club received representations from several Branches that parents can find this financially difficult, because of its proximity to Christmas. Accordingly, the Pony Club have decided to change the renewal date to February 1st., and will give free membership for the month of January 2015. In future, the membership year will run from February 1st to January 31st.
In order to help our renewal process please can you send all membership forms, gift aid forms and payment to Michaela Butt (Treasurer) Shellwood Mill, Shellwood Road, Leigh, RH2 8NZ. In addition if you would like to pay online please contact Michaela on email@example.com and she will let you have the SUPC bank details. It is vital if you pay this way that you state the name of the member you are renewing on your payment. Payment for any other matters must not be made via internet banking at this time.

A massive thanks to all the adults and children who helped out at the SUPC show at Felbridge. This was the first time we have run a show like this at Felbridge and it took a lot of organisation and planning. A huge thank you to Jane Cobb for agreeing to take on this task and also to our four judges Penny Priest, Steph Dewitt, Trudi Eustance and James Goatcher and our show secretary Barbara Goss.
Everyone played a part in putting on a very successful show and we have had lots of lovely feedback about the efficiency of the rings and our kind and helpful tack checkers and ring stewards. It was a shame about the rain for the last classes but with the new under cover warm up area most people managed to stay pretty dry and none of the kids seemed to mind.
Many thanks SUPC committee
It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that two weeks ago our wonderful former Hon. Secretary, Valerie Greenwell, passed away.
I am sorry I haven’t been able to put anything on the website before now, but the family requested that this news was not to be publicised until after the funeral.
Valerie had been Branch Secretary for over thirty-eight years, and she had seen many changes. As a child, she had been a member of the Old Surrey and Burstow Pony Club (where she gained A Test), but when she married and moved, her children, Andrew and Jane, became Surrey Union Pony Club members. Many of your parents will remember Jane with Tiffin, and Valerie, riding Gamble, taking part in Reigate Riding Club events (now North Downs Riding Club).
Valerie was awarded the Cubitt Award (which is the highest Pony Club volunteer award) and her long service bar. At next year’s Prizegiving, we will be presenting an award to commemorate her.
She will be greatly missed.
Jamie Butt recently competed at the PC Tetrathlon Championships at Bishop Burton College Yorkshire. Jamie won the Intermediate Boys with a 94 point lead so took both the National and International titles. Jamie was second in the shoot with 920, had a clear XC ride over a beautifully built but challenging course. Jamie smashed his PB with a run of 6.46 over 2k coming in 2nd position (beaten by 1 Sec). Jamie was also part of the Area 11 team which came 5th. And in the English Team that came 2nd.
It was a fantastic week with the rest of the Area 11 competitors and they all had a great time together and at the “usual” party on the last night!
Fantastic Victory for the Surrey Union Novice Dressage Team at the National PC Championships at Kelsall Hill, Cheshire.
The team of Jenna Emmerton on Blackthorn Ptarmigan (individual second), Katie Hale on Windleway Stars and Stripes (individual tenth), Millie Gover on Unistar (individual sixth) and Hattie Ford on Archie (individual seventh) excelled to emerge victorious in a highly competitive field of 42 teams. Many Congratulations to all the girls and supporting parents for such a stellar effort all round with great team spirit.
Many congratulations also to Millie Gover who finished an excellent sixth in the eventing championships.
