About the Vine

A warm welcome to the Vine branch of the Pony Club.

The Vine is a small, very friendly branch in Area 13 based to the west/north west of Basingstoke, bordered to the north by the A4, the east by the A340, the west by the A34 and the south by the A303/A33.

We want everyone to really enjoy being in the Vine and believe that our strength lies in our open, friendly and inclusive attitude to all our members, whatever their age, ability or interests.

Our activities are mainly based on mounted rallies, which are usually open to all ages and abilities. For our very youngest members, rallies are all about having fun with friends and games, with lots of enthusiasm, encouragement, confidence-building and achievement. For our older members, we offer rallies with top instructors, often discipline-based (such as dressage or show jumping) as well as clinics and training. We are always open to fresh ideas!

There are also unmounted rallies on stable management and pony care and we encourage everyone to take their Pony Club achievement badges and proficiency tests.

Many of our members really enjoy competing and there are opportunities for everyone to ‘have a go’ at representing the Vine. We encourage and support teams and individuals at all levels in dressage, show jumping, eventing, tetrathlon and polo. Vine teams are very successful!

We run summer camps each year to foster friendships and to continue to develop riding skills as well as having a lot of fun! Many of our members enjoy hunting and we enjoy a close relationship with the Vine and Craven Hunt. We find time to run competitions throughout the year as well!
