Welcome to the Waen-y-Llyn Pony Club Website.

Waen-y-Llyn was established in 1974 and forms part of Area 5 covering North Wales, Wirral and Cheshire. We mainly operate in and around Mold and Wrexham, and sometimes we travel further afield.  We are a very small, friendly, all-inclusive branch where every member is warmly welcomed, valued, encouraged and supported.

The objectives laid out by The Pony Club:

• To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
• To give instruction in riding and horsemastership and to educate Members to look after and to take proper care of their animal.
• To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty to create strength of character and self-discipline.

We have members from the age of 4 to 19 who participate in a variety of activities mounted and unmounted. These include working rallies, dressage, show jumping, x-country, mounted games and stable management for all members including lead rein. We also train for The Pony Club efficiency tests, achievement badges and mini achievement badges, enabling members to develop lifelong skills alongside riding and having fun.

Some of our members enjoy competitions though it is not a requirement for all. For those that do wish to compete there are opportunities to represent our branch in small interbranch events and also the Annual Area 5 competitions. At the Area competitions members may qualify and progress in their chosen discipline/s to The Pony Club National Championships or the Regional Championships (entry level) which is an amazing achievement and experience.

Whatever you are interested in;-show jumping, dressage, mounted games, eventing, competition or just having fun with your pony, Waen-y-Llyn offers you and your pony the place to make lifelong friendships, while gaining knowledge and skills in horsemanship.
