What is a biathlon/triathlon?

1. Triathlons comprise shooting, swimming and running phases (but sadly no riding!). Competitors must be a minimum of 8 years of age on the day of the competition to take part (due to the shooting) but there is usually also a biathlon for the under 8s.

2. There are normally the following classes (with a class for Juniors 14 & under being added in most competitions) – Mixed Biathlon (under 8s); Super Mini Boys (9 and under); Super Mini Girls (9 and under); Mini Boys (11 and under); Mini Girls (11 and under). Please note that ages are taken as at 1st January of the year in question (i.e. 1/1/11 for this year). However, if a child who is 7 as of 1st January has their 8th birthday before the competition in question, they can compete in the shooting phase.

3. The winter series of competitions runs from Sept through to the start of the tetrathlon season in April. So it’s a fantastic way to banish those autumn/winter blues and keep the kids fit and active!  Please do let Miles know if you have any questions about the format in general.
