Riding and Road Safety Test Syllabus and Guidelines

Cost £52 for Test

Theory Training with Ann Ivey- no cost.

There will be a charge for the practical training day on 27th March in AVPC as we have to use a qualified BHS R and R safety instructor-more details to follow.

Participants will need

A copy of the Highway Code and BHS Riding and Road safety manual (available on BHS website) These should be studied before attending the course.

Also look over the Syllabus (attached)

Hi-viz gear (must have 4 hi-viz leg boots)- these could be shared with another rider

2 riders may share 1 horse

All horses should be presented well-groomed and well-shod. Tack should be clean and safe (stitching etc. should be checked before assessment day)

The following hat standards are applicable for this exam (all should be kite marked)

• PAS 015 1998 or 2011
• ASTM F1163
• SNELL E2001

Dark coloured gloves are not allowed
