Remember the recent Pony Club writing competition? Well here is a wonderful picture of 4 year old Amelia Anstee being presented with her prize and Oliver Townend autograph. She was the youngest entrant. Great to have an Area 10 Prizewinner 😃
Dear All

Please see attached booking Form for the Area 10 XC training – It’s going to be held at Leyland Court, Nr Bristol on Wednesday 12th August. Sessions will be 90 mins in groups of 4 or possibly 5 depending on interest. Cost £44 per rider.
I apologise for the length of the form, but with all the covid19 precautions it’s reflective of life as we currently know it.
I’ve had interest from a couple of people about 70-80cm so will definitely have a group at that height.
Please circulate to your members. Booking form to me and payment must accompany to secure the place.
Many thanks

Horseracing’s education charity Racing to School are offering to expand their successful summer camp “Horseracing Taster Workshops” to Pony Clubs and Centres that have not had the opportunity to participate before.
Delivered by a team of ex industry professionals, the sessions provide a fun and informative introduction to horseracing which includes a coaching session on a racing Equiciser. Their flexible approach means they can be booked for half or full day sessions depending on the size of your camp and are most effectively used as an unmounted session for an hour to give the ponies a rest with a couple of rides in each session.
Their team are also able signpost any interested members to the team at the Pony Racing Authority who run more specific training days or for older members can give them information about their Pony Club Careers “Raceday” programme run with support from the BHA’s Careers in Racing team.
More information about their programme can be found on their website here
They have updated their Risk Assessment to include our current coronavirus guidelines which you can find attached to this email.
The charity is very kindly offering their activities for free to all participating Pony Clubs, but do ask any participating clubs that feel able to kindly consider a donation to help them on behalf of the 14,000 young people they support each year, the suggested donation for a day is £100. However as stated they are happy to run events for free if you are not in a position to make a donation.
Please contact their Programme Manager Ollie McPhail for further information and available dates.

Dear All,
Following a Pony Club Polo committee meeting last Thursday, we have decided that there will be no centrally planned Pony Club Polo this summer. We regret
this very much, but the reasons include:
a) the complexities of the applicable COVID19 protocols is very much down to local conditions, e.g. what Level the clubs have reached in the HPA COVID19
protocol. Please see the relevant websites for more information.
b) Pony Club staff have been furloughed for the foreseeable future
c) we don’t wish to encourage long distance travel and mixing between geographical areas
d) the risks (financial, expectations, etc) of planning events and then not being able to run them.
However, we are very keen to encourage and support local training and when possible, competitions. So we will be sending out a pack to DCs and Centres through the Area Reps, I hope within the next two weeks. This will include the facilities, trainers, polo schools and academies and coaches available in each geographic area, and will encourage all Branches and Centres to take advantage. We will include details of all the ways in which you can find a suitable coach.
We will be devising a Branch & Centre video competition to be judged by a panel on the committee which will encourage you to train on over the summer.
There is money available to support Under 14 and Under 12 groups up to 100% of the cost for newcomers. The application process will be modified slightly from last
year and we will include details in the pack.
I do hope you will be able to arrange introduction courses, improvers courses and,
if eventually permitted, Area competitions.
Yours,
Charles Whittington
