Area 13 Dressage & Showjumping Qualifiers 2026 | Saturday 11 \u2013 Sunday 12 July 2026<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

What a fabulous two days of competition we had over the weekend for the Area 13 Dressage and Showjumping qualifiers at Coombelands Equestrian.<\/p>\n

It was hot but the team did a fantastic job to ensure the best available conditions for both human and equine competitors.\u00a0 There was a horse wash-off area provided and a last minute move to get the Dressage arenas onto a surface proved to be a popular decision. \u00a0Our Dressage Judges were very understanding and coped admirably with their quite unique viewing positions.<\/p>\n

This move meant that the Showjumping arenas were a little smaller than originally planned but course builder John Farrell took this in his stride and created cleverly designed courses for the PC70, PC80 and PC90 where the rounds were run concurrently.\u00a0 For the PC100 and PC110 the arena was made bigger and the rounds run consecutively. \u00a0We also took the decision to run the PC110 over two rounds (rather than three) to reduce fatigue for both horses and riders.<\/p>\n

The gusty wind on Sunday caused additional issues and credit must go to Molly Barnard and Catherine Van Randwyck for some very calm riding in the face of some very unexpected adversity!<\/p>\n

Special thanks must go to all the fabulous volunteers who braved standing out in the sun. \u00a0We really can\u2019t run any event without parking and ring stewards, writers, pole pickers, scorers, caterers and \u201cbun run\u201d so thank you to all of you who put yourselves forward and gave up your time so that the members could have a fantastic two days.\u00a0 There were lots of familiar faces and it was fabulous to see some new volunteers too so a massive thank you to all of you for your time.<\/p>\n

A special mention for Julie Campbell our Chief Steward, we always feel grateful for her steady hand on the wheel.\u00a0 The conditions certainly tested us all this year, but she guided us through and managed everything brilliantly.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to all for giving us two wonderful days of competition and to all our qualified members we hope you all enjoy your Championships.<\/p>\n
