Searching for a First Horse …

Dear fellow PC Members,

We are actively searching for a first horse for my daughter who has now outgrown her 14.1 pony. Ideally we are looking for the following specification to get out and about as soon as possible this season:-

  • Good Allrounder – with Eventing experience or potential
  • 15.1h – 15.3h
  • Mare or Gelding
  • Age: Min 7 – Max 12 Year Old
  • Nothing strong or silly
  • Must be good to do in all ways – travelling well in both trailer or lorry
  • Good to shoe/clip etc and no vices.

My daughter is a competent teenage rider who loves to take part in all PC activities, local shows and general hacking and farm rides and is also a member of NSEA with her school.

She has successfully competed at 70/75cm in jumping and achieved over 71% in Prelim Dressage tests on her pony and is now ready to move onwards to bigger fences both in Show Jumping and Cross country and develop her Dressage skills. She has already gained some further experience on bigger fences with my 15.1 horse and is now ready to take on her own horse to continue her career.

In return we offer an excellent 5 star home based in East Cheshire. This is a small but friendly livery yard which is well managed with owners on site full time. Our yard provides excellent all year round turn out, good quality menage for schooling and lots of lovely hacking Nr Macclesfield Forest all in a beautiful setting close to our home. I am retired and dedicate a lot of time to the horse care and management to ensure excellent support is provided.

We would love to hear from anyone currently thinking of selling their precious horse – but feels reluctant to place adverts on the open market.

A realistic budget is available!

Kind regards Steph Gleave (07957 175 402)

2017 NFU Mutual National Quiz Final Winners …

… Cheshire Hunt North

After winning the Area 5 qualifier at Eirias Park on the 19th March the Cheshire Hunt North Quiz team had just under two weeks to prepare for the Quiz Final.

A total of 29 teams from all over the country competed at Addington Manor on the 2nd April with 18 Branches and 11 Centres taking part in the Quiz Final.

The quiz consisted of 9 rounds of topics;

  • The Pony Club and Ex Pony Club Equestrian Celebrities
  • Non Equine Achievement Badges
  • Competitive Sports and Competitions within the Pony Club
  • The Spanish Riding School
  • Keeping A Pony at Grass (Junior pairs)
  • Worming and Paddock Maintenance (Senior Pairs)
  • The individual practical round was ‘The Tack Room’
  • The Picture round was titled ‘What is this?’
  • Equestrian Sports at the Olympic Games
  • The Music Round.

After a short briefing the quiz got under way and then after the first four rounds the teams had a break for lunch. After lunch the teams were spilt with the seniors heading off to do their individual practical round leaving the junior pair to answer their questions on “Keeping A Pony at Grass”. The pairs swapped over with the juniors doing their individual practical round and the seniors their pairs round on “Worming and Paddock Maintenance”.

After a short break, the results were up and the girls from CHN were absolutely delighted to win. It was the first time at the finals for youngest members, it was Hannah’s third year in a row at the finals and for Georgina it was the second time she had won the Quiz Final.

An enormous ‘Thank you’ to Anna Sherry and Sarah Hodgson who give up their time to coach the quiz teams.
