Cheshire Shield Horse Trials 2018

For your information – Please see below an email which will be sent to all Cheshire Shield Horse Trials / Area Event entrants today:

Dear All

Now that entries have closed, I write to confirm to all those who have submitted an entry form that your form has been received and will be considered over the next few days. It also gives me a chance to test the email lists to ensure that we iron out any address problems as early as possible. Most of you have taken care when supplying email addresses but there are a few that would defy the most expert graphologist.

PLEASE NOTE – THIS IS A CONFIRMATION OF RECEIPT OF ENTRIES ONLY – NOT AN INDICATION THAT A SLOT HAS BEEN ALLOCATED.

This year the entries are even greater than usual and it is inevitable that some of you will be disappointed. We will notify by email those entrants whose entries have been balloted out within the next few days. It may be possible for us to transfer some or all of those entries to the following day, Sunday 8th July.

This year entries for both Class 1 (PC80) and Class 2 (PC90) have been overwhelming and together account for over 75% of total entries. Since we had expected entries to be concentrated on these two classes, we hope to be able to accommodate more than previously.

We do accept late entries but they must be accompanied by a cheque for the late entry fee of £85. We will operate a waiting list and cheques will not be processed until a place has been allocated. Late entries for Class 4 (PC110) are welcome.

The competition will run in numerical class order (1/2/3/4 – 80/90/100/110) and I expect the dressage arenas will commence at 8.00 a.m. In my next email I hope to give an indication of expected start and finish times for all classes.

Pony Club Teams: If you have not already done so, please advise which of your members are to be included in teams and, where you have more than one team in a class, notify a name for each team. Riders in classes 3 & 4 whose branch do not already have a team in that class, will be notified to the respective Area Representative for consideration of forming mixed teams. If D.C’s or team organisers wish to confirm the entries for their branch, please email me. Teams must be notified no later than FRIDAY 29th June – the earlier the better.

If you do for any reason need to email about an entry – PLEASE QUOTE THE RELEVANT CLASS NUMBER (1- 2 – 3 or 4).

Regards

Geoff

Fantastic opportunity for willing volunteers

  • Cholmondeley Castle Tri-Star Eventing Horse Trials: 28th & 29th  July 2018

My name is Rhiannon Rix, I am an event organiser working at Musketeer Event Management. I am writing today as we have upcoming our annual horse trials at Cholmondeley Castle, which I believe is local to your Area and Pony Club branches.

We are seeking volunteers for the event with roles to fill such as XC fence judges, SJ arena party and XC crossing point stewards. I wondered if volunteering may interest any of your members? I grew up in the Pony Club and know how beneficial as a young rider it can be to watch professionals up close and start to understand the way an event works. It is also a great way to give back to the sport and something to be massively proud of as we all know events just simply wouldn’t run without our amazing volunteers.

As such I wondered if you would think about spreading the word in your area and seeing if you could drum up some interest. Volunteers receive goody bags full of gifts from our sponsors, entry into prize draws, refreshments on tap including breakfast and for those competing over that weekend start fee-vouchers!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely … Rhiannon Rix rrix@musketeer.co.uk

(Edited 18/05/18) CHESHIRE SHIELD HORSE TRIALS AND AREA 5 QUALIFIER – SATURDAY 7th JULY 2018 – SOMERFORD PARK FARM

Editor: we have received reports of some having difficulty with the Word version of the Entry form. If so please try this .pdf version:

CHESHIRE SHIELD HORSE TRIALS INCORPORATING

THE AREA 4/5 EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIP AND REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER

AND THE AREA 3 PC110 OPEN QUALIFIER

SATURDAY  7TH JULY  2018 – SOMERFORD PARK FARM

Please find attached the schedule and entry form for the above event. I have also attached some information regarding 3rd party/public liability insurance which I trust you will find helpful together with a Frequently Asked Questions sheet.

This year the event includes not only the 2018 Area 4 and Area 5 Championship and Regional Championship qualifiers but also, for the first time, the Area 3 PC110 (Open) qualifier.

We are very pleased to be asked to host this qualifying competition especially since we already see many Area 3 riders entering the Cheshire Shield event.

We are also incorporating a new section into Class 2 – this is the Open PC90 for individual PC members. This competition has been brought in for those PC members who have worked their way up to competing at PC110 level but who have a novice/younger horse with which they wish to compete at PC90 level.

For this reason we expect entries from Pony Club members to be significantly higher. Inevitably this means that capacity for non-Pony Club members may be reduced.

However, we are still accepting entries from non-Pony Club riders and we will do our very best to accommodate as many as possible. It is therefore expected that the demand for places will be even higher this year and entries will need  to be submitted as early as possible.

This year we are proposing to start the competition day with the PC80 class and work through the classes in ascending height order thus finishing the day with the PC110. This will represent a considerable change for us and especially for our volunteers organiser, Sally Harris, who will have to completely re-think the arrangements for XC fence judges. We will also need to make extra provision for judge’s/steward briefings  during the day. Please bear with us whilst we work through the implications.

Once again, those Pony Club Branches wishing to enter teams are able to leave team selection almost until the last minute. All riders/branches should submit entries for individuals by the closing date of FRIDAY 22nd JUNE and team selection from those individual entries does not need to be notified (by email would be preferred) until FRIDAY the 29th  JUNE.

It is important, however, that ALL RIDERS HAVE ENTERED BY THE 22nd JUNE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE TO BE INCLUDED IN A TEAM.

We are pleased to confirm that the entry fee, which includes the start fee and medical cover, has been held at the same rate as last year – just £75 for all classes. I think you will agree that this represents excellent value for money given the superb quality of facilities that Somerford Park Farm offers.

Please ensure you use a separate entry form for each rider/horse combination entry.

I do hope to be able to communicate with all competitors by email and keep them up-dated with event information from time to time, so please try to include a LEGIBLE (to me!) email address. If you don’t have a personal email address, try to arrange to use that of a friend who will pass on news.

Volunteers – we are always grateful for offers of help toward running the competition on the day – this is especially the case when it comes to finding XC fence judges. If you – or anyone you know, is willing to help in any capacity, please get in touch with our volunteers organiser, Sally Harris, at the following address:                 crispinharris1@gmail.com
