Mounted Games National Study Day 2022

  • Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre, Organsdale Farm, Middlewich Road, Kelsall, Tarporley, Cheshire, CW6 0SR. 
  • Saturday 12th February 2022 
  • 10am until 3pm. The Pony Club Mounted Committee are hosting a National Study Day for all interested parties that would like to find out more about the Sport.

The Days aims are –

  • Develop an understanding of the Sports Rules
  • Awareness of Equipment for member and Races
  • See the new Area and Zone Competition Games for the forthcoming season
  • Provide a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunity for coaches and trainers, this is accredited for Mounted Games only
  • Provide access to a Mounted Games Official who will be able to answer any questions or queries.

  • Area 13 is offering these courses again by Zoom.
  • B Test – starting Monday 17TH January, 2022 6.00-7.00pm and continuing every Monday and finishing Monday 7th March, 2022 so a total of 8 sessions.
  • You do not have to do every session although it is obviously advisable.  The learning is by Power Point and each session will be sent to you afterwards so you have a permanent copy of it.
  • Area 5 will be putting on B Practical Care  Sessions in February ready for the Test around Easter time.

Here is a list of 2022 course dates for Risk Assessment Training (virtual delivery). Delivered by The Pony Club!!

This training aims to give participants a greater understanding about:

  • purpose of risk assessments
  • risk assessment process within The Pony Club
  • how to carry out risk assessments
  • identifying how people might get injured
  • implementing what you can to avoid injuries happening

Places cost £10 per person and courses are limited to 12.

The Eloise and Katie Bursary 2018

“As part of my prize for winning my section last year at the Pony Club Open Eventing Championships I was invited to attend the Eloise and Katie Bursary training at Attington Stud with renowned World Class trainer Gill Watson.   Due to 2 of the winners having to drop out I was invited to bring a second horse along with Kellen so I took my 5 year old, William.  (Dad was chuffed as he no longer had to muck him out while we were away!!)     Having my 2 horses there was really useful as I was able to get an insight into Gills views on  young horse training  as well as the more established horse.

William had a very useful Dressage lesson on the first day followed by a Cavaletti session in the afternoon for Kellen.  This is something I don’t do a lot of but all three of the horses who took part showed marked improvement through the session.  That evening we were very kindly invited to Gill’s home for supper along with Celia Plunkett who also came to watch the sessions.  The next morning Kel had a ‘test run through’ session which was really helpful as Gill commented on it as a Judge would so that we could see where we could gain valuable marks.

The afternoon sessions focused on course jumping and both of my boys jumped really well.  Although it was a long way to travel it was more than worth the journey and I would love to do it all again……. Fingers crossed for this years Champs!”
