\ud83c\udf1f Area 5 Industry Yard Training \u2013 What a Month!<\/strong>\u00a0\ud83c\udf1f<\/p>\n

Over the past month, Area 5 members have enjoyed\u00a0two outstanding Higher\u2011Level Industry Yard Training sessions, both offering invaluable insight and fantastic learning opportunities \u2014 and with a brilliant turnout from across the Area!<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udccd Twemlows Stud Farm<\/strong>
\nOur first visit took us to the renowned\u00a0Twemlows Stud Farm, where members enjoyed a truly inspiring and eye\u2011opening day. Area coach\u00a0Elspeth Carr\u00a0kindly represented Area 5 and joined members for what she described as an \u201cabsolutely fascinating and inspiring discovery session.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The day provided a superb look into\u00a0equine breeding and the workings of a modern stud, with\u00a0Edward Mateson and his team delivering engaging talks and demonstrations. Members found the experience extremely useful, especially those training towards higher\u2011level tests, and were full of praise for the expertise and generosity of the Twemlow’s team \u2014 not to mention the\u00a0excellent lunch! \ud83e\udd6a\u2728<\/p>\n

\u2600\ufe0f Michael Owen\u2019s Yard, Nantwich<\/strong>
\nOur second visit took place in glorious sunshine at the yard of\u00a0international event rider Michael Owen, a former Burton Cheshire Forest Pony Club member who spoke warmly of his Pony Club days.<\/p>\n

Members enjoyed a full tour of the yard, learning about the\u00a0management, feeding and nutrition\u00a0of horses from youngsters through to Michael\u2019s five\u2011star Badminton horse,\u00a0Monbeg Darwin. We were incredibly privileged to see Darwin\u2019s\u00a0competition tack, including what he will wear at the\u00a0Badminton Horse Trials.<\/p>\n

Area 5 representative on the day Katy Powell met her all time favourite cross country horse, the legendary Bradeley Law ‘Crocky’, looking amazing at 23 years old, loving life, teaching others, and enjoying the chilled 5*yard environment at Michaels yard.<\/p>\n

Michael shared invaluable knowledge on\u00a0pre\u2011 and post\u2011competition care, discussed\u00a0conformation, and finished with a fascinating look through his tack room, explaining different bits, their uses, and how he selects tack to suit each horse\u2019s way of going.<\/p>\n
