Members joined from across Area 5, as well as from other Areas around the country.<\/div>\n<h5>AH Study Days: Equestrian Industry Insights &#8211; Michael Owen International Event Riders Yard, Nantwich<\/h5>\n<div>Members enjoyed an excellent study day and had the opportunity to work alongside Michael Owen\u2019s Badminton horse. Topics covered included:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Tack<\/li>\n<li>Feeding<\/li>\n<li>Fitness<\/li>\n<li>Pre- and post-competition care<\/li>\n<li>Horse welfare<\/li>\n<li>Eventing management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Twemlows Stud, near Whitchurch<\/h5>\n<div>This study day gave members an in-depth insight into a major breeding operation. The programme covered:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Mares and foals<\/li>\n<li>Artificial insemination techniques<\/li>\n<li>Modern breeding programmes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2. Testing Update<\/h3>\n<h5>B Test<\/h5>\n<div>Uptake was disappointing this year, with one of our lowest numbers of B Test candidates applying.<\/div>\n<h5>C+ Test<\/h5>\n<div>Numbers remained steady. Tests held at both Branch and Area level attracted respectable candidate numbers, with satisfactory pass rates.<\/div>\n<h5>Spur Test<\/h5>\n<div>Spur Tests continue to be run on demand. Although uptake remains low, pass rates have noticeably improved compared with the first year of implementation.<\/div>\n<h5>AH Test Achievement<\/h5>\n<div>A huge congratulations to Charlotte Best from Burton Cheshire Forest Branch, who successfully passed her AH Test at the Area 5 test day.<\/div>\n<div>Running the test required a major effort, John did a great job to organise, Charlotte Best\u2019s success was undoubtedly the highlight of the day.<\/div>\n<h3>3. Important Guidance for Branches<\/h3>\n<h5>Training Structure and Framework<\/h5>\n<div>Branches are encouraged to refer to the Guide to Pony Club Training\u00a0and the Area guides produced by AR John.<\/div>\n<div>These provide a clear training pathway from E Test through to B and AH preparation. Tests remain optional for members, but providing a robust training structure and equal opportunities for progression is important.<\/div>\n<h5>C+ and Spur Test<\/h5>\n<div>Before making plans to hold a C+ or Spur Test at Branch level, please notify the Area Representative first, as outlined in the official PCUK guide.<\/div>\n<div>The Area Representative must know in advance and support you to select assessors from the panel and offer any guidance if needed.<\/div>\n<h3>4. Looking Ahead<\/h3>\n<h5>Test Weekend<\/h5>\n<div>We plan to hold an Area 5 Test Weekend after school exams have finished, with dates still to be confirmed.<\/div>\n<div>The intention is to offer:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>C+ Test<\/li>\n<li>B Test<\/li>\n<li>B+ Test<\/li>\n<li>Spur Tests<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Upcoming Training Dates<\/h4>\n<div>\n<h5>4 November 2026 &#8211; B Test Assessor Training<\/h5>\n<div>Virtual session with Carol Broad.<\/div>\n<h5>10 February 2027 &#8211; Making Stable Management Fun<\/h5>\n<p>An interactive session with Amelia Morris-Payne at Kinmel St George Village Hall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Plans are also being developed for:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>A new Zoom educational series<\/li>\n<li>Assessor training up to C Test level, providing a useful starting point
