Area 9 Mounted Games Friendly
Mounted Games Friendly at Royal Three Counties Showground is a very popular event and is a firm favourite on the mounted games calendar!
It is a 2-day competition attracting around 66 of the top teams from across the country (that’s over 300 ponies and riders, plus their trainers and families), this year’s is planned for May 18/19th May.
Teams come from across the UK (a team is coming from Southern Ireland this year too) to stay for the weekend. Everyone arrives on Friday afternoon, camping in tents, lorries and caravans in the camping fields, with the ponies being corralled with electric fencing. The competitors competing in heats on Saturday with finals being held on Sunday. We provide camping facilities for everyone and aim for it to be a fun, family weekend, with selected stalls and caterers and a high standard of competition. Our feedback has been fantastic, with previous teams re-booking early to secure their entry.
There are 5 riders in each team, with 4 in each race. The heats are usually about 8 races, with 10 in the final. There is also a Tack and Turnout competition which is judged during the tack check that every rider has to attend before the competition starts.
With North Herefordshire’s appearance at the Horse of the Year Show in 2017, and winning in 2022 and again in 2023, it is now recognised as one of the top branches in the country.
