If you are not confident in taking your horse/pony’s temperature the conventional way, then be alert and put the thermometer (either digital or mercury) in a freshly produced pile of poo (must be immediate) and wait for a digital thermometer to beep or leave for a few minutes with a mercury thermometer; it is advised that the thermometer is not used for human use in the the future!!

Due to Covid-19 we are no longer running a Championship Show (so well done to all those who managed to qualify, but we felt that this year it would be fairer to just run a Junior Show) – this show will be for Teams and Individuals and entry will be via horse-events. Once the entries have closed or are full, then each Branch/Centre will be sent a list of entries and then they will send their teams to Jane Ogle (gogle@btinternet.com).

The Junior Spring Show 2021 will take place at Rectory Farm on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th April 2021; all classes will be run on both days, please only enter one day.

Please enter as individuals via horse-events and after the closing date (or when full if earlier) each Branch/Centre will be sent a list of entries and they can then let Jane Ogle know what teams they would like; all team members will also be judged as individuals.

There will be four heights – 40cm, 50cm, 60cm and 70cm.  The entry fee will be £15 per combination per class (to include First Aid) plus any fee added by horse-events.

To ease competitors back into competing – all classes will be run under Table A with an optimum time (at 300mpm for 40&50 and 325mpm for 60 & 70) – so one timed round. Time faults will be incurred if the time is more than 5 seconds quicker or 10 seconds slower than the optimum time.

Please Note: the 40cm class will be lead rein/assisted (handler may have contact with pony/rider).

The 50cm class may be assisted but any contact between handler and pony/rider will  render the combination HC.

The Spring Junior Show is for Junior (Novice) riders only please, so any combination which has completed, by 30th March 2021 ,(with no more than 8 faults) a round of show jumping at 80cm or above are not eligible to compete at this  Junior/Novice Show – placings are irrelevant.

Combinations may enter a maximum of two adjacent height classes on ONE day only.

Classes One & Two (40 & 50cm) – ponies may be ridden a maximum of two times in each class, by two different riders to allow for siblings that share a pony.

Classes Three & Four (60 & 70cm) – ponies may only be ridden once in each class.

Prizegiving: There will be no formal prizegiving – rosettes may be collected by one Branch representative only, 30 minutes after the conclusion of the class; that person will then give out rosettes to individuals. There must be no group photographs, unless social distancing is observed.

More information is on the Schedule.

Any queries please  email Jane Ogle (gogle@btinternet.com).
