What a fabulous weekend and brilliant experience that Laura Olivia and Freddie all had at the Pony Club National  tetrathon championships in Warwickshire representing our pony club!
Olivia and Laura competed in the intermediate girls class and Freddie was in the junior boys class- they were all competing with the best in the country and did themselves proud!! All three had average shoots but managed to pull it back with three excellent swims, Freddie with a PB- The following day was the ride section, what everyone looks forward to with both excitement and also some interpretation as both the 90 and 1m were BIG and beefy as well as very technical too- all three completed their best xc rounds to date with Freddie managing to complete within the time too! Three smiling faces at the end of this section despite a few penalties picked up but respectable scores nevertheless- it was lovely to experience! The evening saw the traditional party night with all competitors  dressing up to let their hair down for the party! The final day just left the dreaded run phase but – all three of them were up for it even though it was raining ! They completed
The 1,500m run with excellent t times- all three managing pbs!
No rosettes this year but an incredible weekend of making new friends, showing great determination , learning new skills, (like how to stick in the saddle
When your horse jumps higher than you expect into the water and how to think quickly on your feet when someone falls off in front of you and how to enjoy three days of competing and however it has gone especially to learn to keep going! We were so so proud of all three- they are hoping to be back next year for another adventure ! Freddie in particular is hoping he will be joined but his team buddies Toby and Aidan to experience this special event ! Well done to all three of you- you represented your PC with real energy, determination and composure!! Here’s to 2019!!

2nd June 2018

On the Tetrathlon front, Freddie J-P was selected to represent Southern England. He had a great shoot of 880 and a solid swim and run too- they ran in groups of 10 which was a novel experience and created a great atmosphere! The ride section was challenging to say the least but Freddie tackled it with gusto and finished within the time but picked up penalties for taking some of the L-fences- team instruction was to get home safely and that’s exactly what he did! A great experience and a great weekend – looking forward to next year where he hopes to be joined by both Aidan and Toby!

There was also a dressage competition at the same event too and we were represented by one of our younger members on one of the oldest ponies.  Jacob is Daisy’s cousin (and they are both the grandchildren of our Membership Secretary Rosemary)  and not to be outdone, this is Blackie and Jacob winning their first ever dressage competition, how cute are they!?  It was Blackie’s 25th birthday too,  a fabulous pony who has helped many of our members start their pony careers.
