The Prince Philip Cup<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the 1950s the Pony Club started Mounted Games competitions and in 1957 Prince Philip started the prestigious Prince Philip Cup competition which today sees the top teams in the Country competing\u00a0 in the finals at The Horse of The Year Show.<\/p>\n

The following is taken from the rule book:<\/p>\n

\u2018As a member of The Pony Club, I stand for the best in sportsmanship as well as in horsemanship.\u00a0<\/em>I shall compete for the enjoyment of the game well played and take winning or losing in my stride, remembering that without good manners and good temper, sport loses its cause for being.\u00a0<\/em>I shall at all times treat my horse with due consideration\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n

We also strongly recommend that each parent downloads a copy of the Mounted Games rule book, which explains all the rules in Mounted Games including what tack is allowed and each of the games that are used at competitions.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n\r\n\r\n

Meet the Team Trainers<\/h2>\n

Junior Mounted Games Novice Team Trainer – Julie Tilley<\/h3>\n

Julie is a BHS Accredited level 3 Coach and has been coaching within the Pony Club for over 25 years, She has been involved in mounted games within the branch for over 15 years, travelling throughout the UK and Europe whilst supporting her daughter in this sport. She believes that building a solid foundation is key, doing the little things right makes the big things right \u2013 with a commitment to life long learning.<\/p>\n

Her passion for coaching ranges from younger members, though to members taking their efficiency tests, coaching teams taking part in the horse and pony care competition and the national quiz. As well as coaching, she is a keen volunteer for the Pony Club and is well known in the branch as \u201ccamp Mum\u201d back in 2019 Julie was invited to attend the Royal Windsor Horse Show where she was awarded her Cuthbert award in recognition of her volunteering and commitment.<\/p>\n

Senior Mounted Games A Team Trainer – Matt Clingo<\/h3>\n

When I finished Pony Club Games at 15, I started to train the younger members. I trained the junior B team first and then started to train the A Team.\u00a0 In the 15 years I trained the Junior A Team, we won the Championships an impressive 5 Times!<\/p>\n

I started to train the Senior A team in 2023 and we accomplished everything we set out to, including qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show and finishing as reserve champions.<\/p>\n

I work on the principle of practice, practice, practice! Practice and consistency in the team are both really important to maintain a good standard and be in with a chance of winning. The more you do, the more you and your pony come together and both know where you need to be before it happens.<\/p>\n

Getting great results helps members believe they can do it and gives them the confidence boost they need. I\u2019m really hoping to get to hoys again this year!<\/p>\n
