Area Competitions

To represent your pony club branch at the Area competitions is an honour and to qualify for the Pony Club Championships or the Regional finals  (Bicton)  is the icing on the cake! We are in Area 14 and all the branches within this area send teams to the qualifiers in Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing in June/July. The Avon Vale has had several teams, in all disciplines, at all levels and has achieved many successes.

To date the branch has met almost all the entry fees for Area Competitions (with the exception of £20 pp for the Eventing). We hope to continue this for as long as we have funds to do so. However, these funds are raised by running competitions like our Christmas SJ and Eventer’s Challenge and other fund raising activities. If these are not well supported it will have an impact on our finances and our ability to cover the costs of Area Competitions.

To represent AVHPC at Area competitions, you must be selected by the DC. Don’t forget you need to have competed your volunteering and attendance at rallies (please see attached Area 14 Three Rally Rule) in order to be considered. Please also ensure that you are available on the dates of the Area competitions and the Championship dates (just in case!)

In order for the DC to know you wish to be considered for selection, you must complete and return the Area Application Form. Then, in May (once you have been able to get out and do a few competitions) you will need to complete and return the Competition Record Form. If you do not send these forms in then the DC will not know that you wish to be considered for selection!!

Three Rally Rule.

This rule applies to all Pony Club members of any Branch or Centre within Area 14 (Wessex and Channel Islands)

For Area competitions and above (this includes Grassroots and Regional competitions) Members must have actively taken part in a minimum of three rallies since the 1st July in the previous year to be eligible to represent their Branch at such competitions in all sports.  The District Commissioner or Centre Proprietor, in conjunction with the Area Representative, has discretion in the case of those who are working or in further education to waive part of this rule.

Rallies must have been organised by the Branch/Centre, must be a minimum of an hour in length and must have been advertised in the Branch/Centre programme at least 7 days prior to the date of the rally.  All rallies must be open to all members within the age range or ability level for which it is intended.  The rally may be mounted or unmounted.  Branch camps may count as rallies but this must be confirmed with the relevant District Commissioner.

Nobody can organise a rally unless authorised by the District Commissioner/Centre Proprietor.

In addition all competitors must be active members of the Branch or Centre and will be made aware of their Branch or Centre Team Selection Policy.

Nationally – All members and their horses/ponies must comply with the relevant sports eligibility rules as per the rule books and any other Pony Club Policy applicable to the Area competitions and above (such as Pony Club vaccination Policy).  Failure to comply with the eligibility rules risks elimination at the event.
