Eventing is like the Triathlon of the horse world with three phases within the same competition – Dressage, Showjumping and Cross country. The lowest levels start at PC70 and competitions at this level are usually aimed at younger members. PC80 is the level for grassrooots competitions with PC90; PC100 and PC110 all being qualifying levels for the main Pony Club championships. As their names suggest, the numbers are the heights of the jumps and the difficulty of the dressage tests increases as you progress up the levels.

There are branch events organised throughout the year – see the Area 6 website calendar for schedules. Also worth looking at Area 3, Area 5 and Area 7 which are adjacent areas that often have good events within travelling distance.

We are very keen to put in the Barlow’s calendar some regular Eventing rallies with the aim of everyone having some fun learning while learning about eventing. This is with a view to encouraging members to have a go at the Area 6 Eventing competitions, culminating in putting forward some teams for the Area Qualifiers, as well as for team competitions later in the summer. We also really want to  encourage our younger members (jumping from 45cm upwards) to come and have a go, you are our stars of the future!  You will have the instruction and support of our excellent trainers,  and parents and older members who have lots experience in this area.

The Eventing rule book (which has information on the tack and dress allowed for the three phases, as well as useful information) is available to purchase from the pony club store, or to download from the website.
