PC Novice Eventing Championships, Aug 2016

8 of us went to the Championships in Cheshire to compete in the Novice Eventing. We had two teams going, one included: Myself riding Tockas, Georgie Gay and Dylan, Amy Curtis and Alfie and Isla Green riding Ollie, and the other team was: Poppy Richardson riding Tazer, Molly Spearman and Frank, Rachel Hatherall and Calypso and Lexi Hart riding Leo. The weather was horrendous for the dressage with horizontal rain and driving wind but we all did the very best we could in those conditions. For the show jumping it fortunately dried up, however the ground was chopped up from previous competitors. A few of us had poles but the ground was quite sticky. With only one jumping fault out of eight riders, everyone did amazingly on the cross country and had loads of fun. It was a challenging course and was the longest that all of us had done at over 6 minutes with lots of galloping stretches. In the end we had both teams in the top 8 with my team 4th and the other teamĀ  8th and a few individual placings as well. At the prize giving my team was astounded to have won the Horsemanship trophy for riding the best on the cross country out of all the teams. Many thanks to Vic for warming us up in the dressage and Rhian for course walking and warming us up in the Show jumping and Cross country. Also, thank you to Lesley our team manager for organising us all and to Lucinda for coming to support us. It was a fantastic experience and I hope I can go again next year.
