Area Tetrathlon 2016

The first weekend in July brought the Area Tetrathlon at Gadbury. That date proved something of a nightmare with many children at school leavers events, prize days and sports matches. The Ledbury organisers moved heaven and earth to fit phases in around competitors availability, which was noble. On Friday evening, there were two shoot details for those unavailable on Saturday. The Tucker family get the prize for commitment in collecting Jack from school in Dorset and taking him back there again the same evening before collecting once more on Saturday to compete again. I remain speechless with admiration.

On Saturday most people shot and swam, the latter phase taking advantage of a brand new leisure centre in Tewkesbury.  A couple of our Beaufort Inter girls were allowed to complete their run on Saturday due to hockey trials later on Sunday. Once again thank you to Ledbury for accommodating this.  The Beaufort team organised the swim phase with the assistance of CVFH and S&RH PCs. Thank you to Philip Kendell for taking the lead.

Sunday morning was full of tension. I arrived only just in time, let down my ramp whereupon it was run over by a hasty official in her car! Yes really….Luckily the ramp still agreed to open and close so disaster was averted.  The Beaufort teams did their very best round a tricky course with enough questions to sort the wood from the trees.

Inter Girls and Junior Girls Blue team each recorded 4 clear rounds in the ride for max 1400 points. Other excellent rides from Amy Peevers (first time Inter), Tom Edwards (Inter), Laura Warren (Inter) & Henry Stratton (Jun). Tegan Wood also recorded a lovely clear for just 4 time faults.

The final phase of running was punishing up and down the hills but everyone dug deep and scored every point they could.

In summary the following results and qualifications were achieved which display the culmination of many months training and commitment from all those involved. Most Pony Clubs cannot field full teams. It is not a lucky accident that the Beaufort can field full team.  By means of the weekly training sessions and some enviable team spirit, our club is holding together talented and cohesive teams that are capable of great results:-
