Riding and Road Safety Tests took place recently at Shepperdine stables by kind permission of Jean Ward  .

Jack Harkley,  Harvey Lewis,  Brooke Bees,  Amelia Adams and Lottie Burrows  passed the Mini Achievement  Badge ( this badge has to be taken before D and D+ Tests )

Emma Daykin and Ciara Bale passed the Main Achievement Badge ( this has to be taken before C test)

Emily Pain was 6th in the Novice section BE at  Pontispool last weekend- an excellent result as she is now aiming for her first CCI * at Hartpury in August when she can wear Top Hat and Tails  – she will look so elegant !

Chloe Dawes is continuing to do well in  Dressage qualifiers for regional championships .


E Test will take place at frampton Camp

D (min age 8yrs) and D+ ( min age 10yrs) training will be on three  Thursday  evenings at Bassett court   in June and  July Details will be on the programme shortly so please book in if you would like to take the Test before Frampton camp.

C and C+ Test training will take place at Frampton Camp with the opportunity to take the test in August.

B and A Test Training with Vicki Macdonald  is ongoing and the tests will be taken in the early Autumn .

Please keep checking the programme for BADGE rallies as these will be incorporated into some social activities as well.

FRAMPTON CAMP  July 29th -August 2nd .

Please make sure that you book in BEFORE July 1st as we have to confirm how many Instructors we need by then . The majority of Pony Clubs also have their camps around this time so it is very difficult to get extra instructors if members book in late.  The Minimum age of Mini Camp is 3yrs old .

26th july Dressage – ( we are running this)

10th Aug Mini and 80cm Eventing

All those who hope to be selected for teams must satisfy the eligibility criteria as stated in the 2017 rule books.

Team Training is open to ALL members even if you are not wanting to be considered for a Team this year.

Kate Scott- Wilding BHSI is doing Coaching sessions  every fortnight for showjumping, Cross country and Dressage.

Chloe Dawes will be coaching Dressage/Showjumping/crosscountry for  the Junior and Novice Teams.

Tessa Thorne will be doing Individual Dressage sessions for the senior Teams

Cross country training will take place at Wayfarer ( near Cirencester) and at Leyland Court. Senior Cross country training is also taking place at Lyneham organised by Area 9

Please keep checking the website for new dates being added to the programme. We appreciate that all those doing GCSE’s and A’levels have their heads down in their books until late June !

Please make sure that you will have completed at least two competitions at the Team level that you hope to be selected for Area competitions.


We will now have training for all levels of Mounted Games on a regular basis for Senior/Junior/ and Mini levels- from 14yrs old down to 3yrs old !  The next two  sessions will take place at Berkeley kennels on June 11th and 24th- do come along whatever your ability and have a go- it is so much fun !  It really does improve your riding skills  and confidence in handling your pony.   Book in via the programme page.


Rallies are taking place every 2 weeks for ALL ages  at the kennels to cover flatwork, Showjumping and cross country.

There is also a DAY RALLY on July 1st at the kennels. This will also be a NEWCOMERS DAY so please do bring along any friends  to introduce them to pony club activities- there is a DISCOUNT for any new members joining after July 1st.


Shooting training continues every Friday evening  from 3.30pm -6pm with Geoff vatcher  at Halmore Mill Box road – turn right after the station.


We are organising this competition and arrangements are well under way. There will be 8 Arenas set up on the Polo pitch in front of Frampton Court for  Open, Intermediate, Novice and Grassroots competitions. There will be a total of 14 sections and 300 competitors.  40 flower tubs to decorate the arenas have already been planted. We will need a  at least 30 Volunteers on the day. All those selected for a Dressage Team will be expected to provide one helper- parent/ grandparent/ friend or sibling. There are lots of different jobs to do from tea and coffee making, helping with lunches , Dressage writers, stewards, collecting scoresheets etc. Kirsty Withers is coordinating  all the helpers so please contact her if you can volunteer for either the morning or afternoon session. email


We recently had an excellent sunny Sunday morning spent  fishing at Manor farm by kind invitation of Tom and Katie Rea(see all the photos on FB).  We hope to have a Badge rally combined with swimming soon for our younger members   and  a  Barbecue and Swimming for all our older members after their exams have finished.

A   FARM visit and picnic for all – to a mixed farm to prepare for Achievement badges  in Farming, Trees, Butterflies , poisonous plants.   Dates will be posted on FB and the website.

I am writing this while it is pouring with rain which will much improve the ground for eventing . I just hope that it stops and is is dry for Berkeley Residential camp this week .
