We would like to introduce you to the new committee:

District Commissioner and Safeguarding Officer – Holly Dowsing
Assistant District Commissioner – Anya Hallett
Secretary and Health & Safety Officer- Annabel Merrett
Membership Secretary – Emily Pain
Treasurer – Amber Hanney
Chief Instructor – Vikki Macdonald
Instructor’s Representative – Massey Rowe
Catering Coordinators – Becky Pain & Hannah Harkley
Tetrathlon Representative – Philippa Burrows
Minimus Representative – Suki Cook

We are fortunate to have the most brilliant committee. The exciting new ideas and plans are very much a result of this. We hope you are all enjoying the activities offered on the new programme. The feedback so far has been very positive. We are aiming to run a wide variety of events throughout the year, both mounted and dismounted. As a branch, we hope to cater for both our competitive members, and those who just want to have fun on their horses and ponies with new and old friends.

You will find the behind the scenes trip to Gifford’s Circus, beach ride, camp out, working rallies and discipline specific training all on the website to book. Both residential camp and Frampton camp are also on there ready to take bookings. There is an option to pay for residential camp by instalments. We understand that some families might find it easier to pay for other events by instalments, which is no problem at all. Just email us on berkeleyhuntponyclub@hotmail.co.uk to discuss. Please keep checking the website for added events. PLEASE book in before the closing dates as coaches and venues need to be confirmed.

Circus Trip
Gifford’s Circus have very kindly allowed us to take 40 people for a behind the scenes tour on 6.5.19, followed by tickets to the 11am show at a discounted rate. There are still a few tickets available for this but these are now ‘first come first served’ for any parents or extended family members. An unlimited number of discounted tickets are available for show only, children £10 and adults £15. If you would like to buy any of these show only tickets please email us on berkeleyhuntponyclub@hotmail.co.uk by 17TH MARCH so we can order these and confirm final numbers with Gifford’s.

Horse & Pony Care Competition
The Area Horse & Pony Care Competition is on 13th April and we would like to support the SH&RH Branch by entering at least one team. This year there is an additional class for minis (one under 10, with rest of team 8 or under). Please let us know if you would like to take part in this. Any teams will be offered some practise before and it is usually always a really fun team event. The schedule is on the website for more information. Open to everyone!

Equine Flu

The BEF guidance on how to detect and prevent the spread of equine flu is on our website. Please ensure your horse or pony is vaccinated and bring their passport to all rallies until further notice.

Presentation Evening
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the date due to poor uptake and are hoping it will now be at the end of March. Date to be confirmed.

Membership
You have until the end of February to renew your membership if you wish to represent the club at area competitions- two days left. The form and information is on the website.

Pony Club now offer a non-riding membership for people would would like to join us for all activities without a horse/pony. Please let your friends know about this, particularly around the benefits of the triathlon and social aspects of BHPC.

Many of you will appreciate how daunting it can be when you first join BHPC, knowing if you are wearing the right thing, going to the right place, bringing the right equipment etc.. We want to offer new members a ‘buddy system’ where they have another parent to call with any queries. If you feel able to offer this please let us know. Thank you to Kathy Packer who has already offered to do this.

Thanks also to the parents who have been volunteering already this year, especially Ant Rymer who was ‘roped in’ to help with the knots badge at the dismounted rally. Much appreciated, especially as his daughter had only just joined!

Finally, if your child would like to do something that is not yet offered, or you have any ideas about things we could offer please get in touch.

We look forward to seeing you all very soon.
