{"id":1074,"date":"2025-08-15T16:35:26","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T15:35:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/branches.pcuk.org\/berwyndee\/?page_id=1074"},"modified":"2025-08-15T22:38:51","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T21:38:51","slug":"team-selection-policy-2025","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/branches.pcuk.org\/berwyndee\/team-selection-policy-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Selection Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n<section class=\"full-width-text py-5\">\r\n    <div class=\"container\">\r\n        <div class=\"row\">\r\n            <div class=\"col-lg-10 mx-auto\">\r\n                <p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"wp-block wp-block-post-title block-editor-block-list__block editor-post-title editor-post-title__input rich-text\" role=\"textbox\" aria-label=\"Add title\">Team Selection Policy 2025<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Effective Date: August 2025<br \/>\nReview Date: Annually<br \/>\nApproved by: Berwyn and Dee Pony Club Branch Committee and District Commissioner<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>To ensure a fair, transparent, and inclusive process for selecting members to represent the<br \/>\nBranch in team competitions, encouraging participation, development, and sportsmanship.<br \/>\nOnce those members willing and eligible to be selected for the team in question have been<br \/>\nidentified, further selection will consider several factors including but not limited to:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>-Commitment &#8211;<\/strong> priority given to members showing dedication to the Branch, training,<br \/>\nrallies, competitions, and Pony Club values such as teamwork and sportsmanship.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Performance &#8211;<\/strong> both in previous competitions, at rallies, in training and demonstrated<br \/>\nability at the required level. Development: Future potential and willingness to improve are considered.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>-Inclusivity &#8211; <\/strong>All eligible members are encouraged to participate.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Selection is not a \u201cwin at all costs\u201d process. Where members are broadly equal in<br \/>\ncommitment, performance will guide selection. While loyalty and dedication are rewarded,<br \/>\nperformance sometimes takes precedence. Disappointment may occur, but this is part of<br \/>\nthe learning process and can encourage future growth<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Selection Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>-Expression of Interest (EOI)<\/strong>: any members wishing to be selected to represent the<br \/>\nbranch in a team must make their interests known to the head of discipline.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>-Training Observations<\/strong>: coaches, instructors and \/ or team managers will observe<br \/>\nriders during designated rallies, clinics, or training events.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>-Selection process:<\/strong> selections will be made by a group of at least three people, which<br \/>\nshould include, for example, the Team Manager and the District Commissioner (DC),<br \/>\nwith input from the relevant team coach or coaches. All decisions will be made on a<br \/>\ncase-by-case basis, taking into account the best interests of the team and individual<br \/>\nmembers<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>-Team Balance:<\/strong> Consideration will be given to creating well-rounded teams that meet<br \/>\nevent formats and age\/grade requirements.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Any member not selected for a team but still eligible to enter the competition as an<br \/>\nindividual is encouraged so to do since they may be needed for the team as a last-minute<br \/>\nsubstitute and in any event their individual performance may influence future team<br \/>\nselection.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Appeals Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>-Any concerns about selection decisions may be submitted in writing to the District<br \/>\nCommissioner (DC) within 7 days of the decision.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>-An independent panel (e.g., DC, Branch Secretary, and one neutral committee<br \/>\nmember) will review the appeal within 14 days.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>-The panel\u2019s decision will be final.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Commitment Expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Selected team members are expected to: Attend all scheduled practices and meetings. Represent the club in a positive and respectful manner. Support fellow team members and uphold the spirit of Pony Club.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Review and Amendments<\/strong><br \/>\nThis policy will be reviewed annually.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Inclusivity Commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This branch is committed to ensuring all members feel welcome and valued.
