Our very own Lily Gibbons took part in the EGB Inter Regionals which was held at Wheeting near Newmarket, a mega journey to start with!.  Each area sends their best team, and each ride different distances. Lily rode per pony Sandy in the 33k novice pony / horse ride. There were 34 adults and her in the class. For this event you really have to go fast but the final heart rate is the key factor. Lily rode with a lady called Jean riding Harvey, Harvey gets very excited when anything overtakes him, so Lily went in front for most of the ride and Harvey settled.  Sandy started off the ride with a heart rate of 40 and finished on 41 with an average speed of around 14 kph. She was the youngest rider in the entire event.  Massive well done Lily and Good Luck for the Pony Club Endurance Championships.

Pony Club Endurance Qualifiers 2015

If any of our members are interested in endurance please keep checking back here as we update what will be going on in our own branch and also in other branches, if anyone requires any further information, Sam Parkinson is our branch co-ordinator for Endurance and is also our Membership Secretary and will happily discuss any upcoming competitions, so please do email her at or contact her via phone on  07715754039. If you want to find out what is suitable for you and your pony or if you just require any further information.

Members can qualify for the Pony Club Endurance Championships by successfully completing one Regional Qualifier ride. To ride at the Championships, Pony Club recommend that the combination of horse/pony and rider must have successfully completed at least one other ride at the appropriate level within three months prior to the championships.

Pony Club endurance mileage can be logged at every ride, under 13s must ride with an adult, over 13’s can ride independently.

Pony Club riders collect their endurance mileage at competitive events organised by EGB, the national endurance riding association.

Please contact Sam, or look at the EGB and EGB Lancs websites for more information on what to expect and ride entry forms.
