At Brecon and Talybont we are a relatively small club with between 20-30 members, this means that our members get to know each other really well and make life long friends. We organise a range of events and rallies throughout the year both mounted and unmounted for our members to come together and get the most from Pony Club. Our members engage in multiple disciplines such as show jumping, cross country, dressage, pole work, grid work and fun rides, they also have opportunities to compete in Area 10 and National competitions if they wish.
We are very fortunate to use facilities at Trefeinon Farm, Llangorse. LD3 0PS by kind permission of the Sheppherd family. Located just off the main B4560 road between Talgarth & Llangorse.
At Trefeinon rallies take place in either the arena or in fields depending upon the weather and activities taking place. There are show jumps and a cross country course available for our use. We also have facilities for mounted games, dressage and eventing.
A rally is much like a riding lesson with a qualified instructor. We meet regularly through the summer on Friday evenings and through the winter on Saturdays. Riders are put into ability groups of approximately 4/5 with lessons usually lasting an hour. Rallies are either one discipline e.g. show jumping or they maybe a mixture to make it fun with some mounted games, especially for younger children.
During the summer holidays we host a three day summer camp each year which takes place at our base, Trefeinon. The benefit of being a small Branch means that all of our Members attend the same Camp which really establishes the feeling of being a large family.
Our camp is open to all ages and abilities, from lead-rein onwards.
It is a fun packed 3 days with a range of disciplines, Show Jumping, Cross Country, Mounted Games, Flatwork; even the opportunity to complete a PC proficiency test and Badge. At the end of the 3 days we have a celebration of achievements and BBQ, with rosettes, trophies and badges awarded as recognition of the members achievements.
We hold numerous mounted and unmounted badge rallies for younger members. We are are keen club to ensure all members have the opportunity to progress through their Pony Club Efficiency Tests and hold regular rallies covering the appropriate syllabus.

Away from the arena there are plenty of opportunities to meet new friends and socialise. At Brecon & Talybont we have an annual coach trip to Badminton horse trials, this is always thoroughly enjoyed by all whether sun or rain!! We have also been to Hereford Races, stewarded at the Royal Welsh Show and lots more equestrian related excursions.
