We have a very active showjumping squad and welcome all riders, regardless of ability, to train and compete for the club. Competition dates are detailed below and training dates can be found on the Calendar.

We participate in team inter-branch competitions from March-October. Pony Club showjumping is generally classified in heights, starting with Under 10’s ( which tends to range from 35cm, including lead reins, up to 60cm), then 70cm, 80cm, 90cm, 1m and 1.10m upwards.  If you are interested in taking part in team competitions please speak to Georgina and be sure to come along to some of the showjumping training sessions.

A highlight of the showjumping calendar is the Area 6 Inter-branch competition which is held in July and is the qualifier for the national annual Pony Club Championships.  Jumping levels at Areas are classified as Grass roots (80cm), Novice (90cm), Intermediate (1m) and Open (1.10m).   To be selected for Area teams you need to be competing regularly for the club, have a current membership and meet the PC criteria for that height.

Please note that there are specific PC criteria for Area show jumping qualifying classes. Please ensure you do not rule your rider/horse out of a level (novice/intermediate/open) by not doing enough rallies or by jumping outside of the class you wish to be considered for. Full details are available here. If you have any queries contact Georgina Wilson.

The pinnacle of the showjumping calendar comes with the SSG Pony Club Team Jumping Competition at Burghley Horse Trials. This is a standalone team competition over a course at open height, and is a real big ticket event. Being the “home” branch, our team members are always well supported by the crowd and love to do well.
