What is Mounted Games?<\/h3>\n

Mounted Games is a team sport that combines a love of ponies and friends with various races. Teams of four or five riders and ponies take part in a series of exciting and exhilarating races that involve a mix of turns, handovers, skill, vaulting and galloping against other teams.<\/p>\n

Often ran on grass or all-weather surfaces, Mounted Games is an adaptation of Gymkhana and is great fun for you, your pony and your team. You can develop skills such as improving accuracy, agility, concentration, speed, hand to eye coordination, teamwork and sportsmanship whilst having lots of fun playing some imaginative games.<\/p>\n

Mounted Games in the Burton Pony Club<\/h3>\n

As a Branch we have been very successful at Mounted Games. At the Area competition we normally field a Junior team (10 and under), a senior team (14 and under) and pairs combinations (11 to 18 yr olds). Our Senior Team have won the Area 6 competition every year since 2013. Teams have progressed through to the Zone competition and the Intermediate Championships coming 3rd 2016 and 2nd in 2017 & 2018.<\/p>\n

Training is every Wednesday evening and is open to all from complete beginners on lead rein right through to more experienced competitive members. We train indoors at Riseholme in the Winter and outdoors on grass in the Summer months.<\/p>\n

We train in all Pony Club games as we have a good selection of equipment and we also do some MGA training using MGA style equipment.<\/p>\n

It’s great fun and really gives you some great riding skills.<\/p>\n
